Jordan's pov
I wake up cold. Cold from my toes to my brain. I don't feel anything anymore. I don't want to feel anything. I'm brain dead. Completely and utterly, upset, broken. Tomorrow marks the day of my eighteenth birthday. The day i waited for my whole life. The day that i now dread. At least i have Reggie, and Cassie. The only people that haven't tried to use my weakness against me. I daze out onto the mustard yellow hotel walls. It has just been the morning after, memories fresh engraved into me. "Jordan? Joooordaaaan." Reggie was waving his hand in my face making me snap out of thought. I smiled slightly and made eye contact. "Yes?" I was tackled into a bear hug onto the bed making me giggle. "What was that for?" I gasped out. "You looked sad, are you sure you're okay?" He pulled away, i swear Reggie is like the brother i dreamed about. Always caring as a brother should be. "Of course stinky, whats the plan for today? I don't think living in a hotel is very.. adequate of us." I giggle making him laugh. "Your vocabulary has been so much better since i first met you." He turns to grab his phone off the nightstand. "Well thank you, i learn from the best." He holds his hand over his heart and sniffles. "I'm honored. Hey why don't we go shopping today? Cassie and i can go show you some cool places to get some useless stuff you'll never need!" I had an uneasy feeling about this. "Um.. i'm not sure Reg, i haven't really been anywhere my whole life. And what happens if we run into them again?" By them i was referring to Sam and Colby and all of them. "Oh fuck them! This is our day! Let's make it a girl day! Plusss you have a special day tomorrow! Don't think i forgot because i didn't, i want you to have to best pre- birthday ever. So, you in now?" He smiled hopefully at me. Gosh how could i say no? He was practically begging me with his eyes. I groaned and rolled my eyes. "Ughhh. Fine. But if we see anyone, and i mean anyone, we're gone. Deal?" I held my pinky up towards him. "Deal." He grinned and linked pinky's. "Where's Cass anyway?" I asked, grabbing one of the three pairs of pants i have. Yes, they're clean, gosh. "She went to get some food from downstairs, let me just let her know that you're down to go and once she gets back we could head out." I nodded and teleported to the restroom. "So what DID happen in there? You kinda just stayed to yourself when you got back." Reggie asked, picking his voice up so i could hear him. He wasn't wrong. I really didn't talk to anyone after what i saw. I didn't want to. I sighed and walked out the restroom. "He moved on, that's what. He promised me he wouldn't, and he did. They all lied to me. That whole Goddamn house did. I hate them for it, but i can't seem to forget about them." He sighed and wrapped me in a hug. "Fuck him, you don't need him, wanna know why?" I hummed in response. "Because you're , Jordan Sky's aka a bad ass bitch." I laughed and hugged him back. "It just hurts ya know, even with Dav- when i was taken. Even he didn't break his promises and hearing that someone i actually trusted did.. it's heartbreaking." "But you gotta think. When you were taken, what happened was probably the most inhuman thing to do. Colby messed up, everyone does, okay? It's only between fait and time now but i do know, it'll get better, okay? Keep your head up, todays your day. Don't worry about them." I nodded and hugged him again. "Thank you Reggie, for everything. For taking me in, for helping me. For not using my weaknesses against me. Most importantly for listening instead of yelling, for never breaking even the smallest promises to me." He chuckled and looked down at me "hey that's what friends are for! Now go finish getting ready so we can get our partay on!" He basically threw me off the bed cracking up afterwards. "WHY DID YOU PLOP LIKE THAT?!" He yelled still laughing. I was rolling on the floor laughing at that point "BECAUSE REGGIE I DONT HAVE AN ASS! ALL BONE BABYYY." We laughed even louder than before and couldn't bring ourself to calm down, Cassie came in moments later to us crying of laughter. "Jesus, what happened here?" She gasped, setting food where the tv was. Reggie was frantic as he pointed to the bed then me, gasping for air. "She... AHAH and then i- and she- wbdkwlwk plop ." We stood quite for a second. Not a peep from any of us until we all looked back from each other. I looked at Cassie, then Reggie. As Reggie looked at me, then Cassie. Cassie burst into laughter making us fall again. "Wai- Stop- i can't breathe-" I gasped sitting up. Once we all calmed down again we set up a game plan Cassie knew that if i saw anyone there we'd automatically leave and she was okay with it. We also agreed we would stop by when we felt was the right time. Reggie then drove us to a Target as we pulled up he yelped "Welcome to T-T-T-T-Targettt." Me being the confused person i am, gave him a 'what the fuck' look. "It's a vine reference" Cassie whispered making me Oh. We hopped out and i shakily walked in. I smelled a buttery food coming from around the corner. "Whats that?" I pointed into a direction of the flavorful stand. "It's popcorn, wanna go get some? We can get Starbucks on the way back." Cassie looked down at me. She was really tall so i had to turn my head to look up to her. "Sure! But i don't know what Starbucks is." She giggled as we walked towards the popcorn. "It's coffee is all. They have pastries too but that's for another time." I nodded and we got a medium sized popcorn bag. "Holy shit this is the best thing i've ever eaten." I gasped, shoving more down my throat. "Righttt, c'mon let's go get our coffees!" I nodded and stood in line with her. Just as we were waiting for our coffees i felt a presence. A familiar one. It was dark so i knew it wasn't David, or that girl. It was almost warm, but cold. Colby. "Shit shit shit." I dragged Cassie to the back of the small Starbucks so none of the customers saw. "Jordan? What's going on?" She questioned as she looked around. "Okay listen, what i'm about to do i've never done before and i'm going to try as hard as i can to not hurt you. I'm going to trasmute you. Only you, THEY are here. I'll take you to Reggie, he'll know what to do til then, got it?" I was talking so fast i didn't even understand myself. "Wait what?! You're gonna-" I covered her mouth with my hand and whispered. "Trust me.. please." I begged and she nodded slightly. I closed my eyes and brought one hand out to make a circular motion. "Mom, Dad if you're watching me, please help me out. I'm scared." I whispered to myself. I then made a circle motion onto the floor and without thinking i dropped Cassie in it, the portal immediately closing after. I gasped in shock, fear, regret. What if i- no you're okay. I quickly hopped up, walking to our drinks as i saw the devil himself walk to the register, lucky me my drinks were right next to it. Great. I looked up slightly to see he's not alone. He's with Tara and a worried Jake. I quickly block off my mind, hoping they can't read it. I speed to the drinks, keeping my head low and grab them, walking right past them i was stopped by a familiar large hand next to the exit. The hand that used to soothe me, and the one i used to allow to touch my skin. "Jordan?" His voice came off shaky, scared almost. I didn't feel that black energy, only the simple blue one. "Colby." I looked up slightly, my voice came off raspy, showing way too much. His eyes tried to lock onto mine. Trying to read me. I look away and try to keep walking but his hand doesn't move. "P-Please, J," he begged his hand connected with my wrist, gripping tightly so i wouldn't move. I was in pain. But i didn't show it one bit. "C-Can i go?" I stuttered but kept my gaze stern, looking straight ahead. "Not until you tell me you're okay, who you're with, and if you let me explain, everything." I scoffed and snapped at his gaze, my eyes watery now and my bags from last night showing big. "I'm fine Colby, i'm not with anyone. And no, i won't let you explain. You wouldn't have to explain if you knew you didn't do anything wrong." Was i wrong? No. Was i mean? Maybe. "Okay, but you're definitely not alone. Friends don't lie, remember?" He said softly making me roll my eyes. "We aren't friends. You fucked that up when you fucked other things up. All you needed to know was in the note i gave you. I'm. Not. With. Anyone." I began to walk off but he groaned and stepped in front of me. "Stop lying Jordan. I know damn well you aren't alone. And the note? I never got to read it. It's still in my room i know it-" "Oh so you didn't even bother right? Shocker. You see why i left? Because you do shit and say another. It doesn't add up Colby! You did something life changing for me. Then say it was a mistake. So you know what ran through my head? That everything you and everyone did was a mistake. I drove myself crazy because of that one thing. I'm fragile, Colby. I'm trying my best to build up what David broke. So if you don't mind i'd like to leave now." A single tear left my eyes and i was surprised. I only raised my voice slightly once. I thank Reggie for that. "O-Okay. Just tell me who you're with, and i'll get out of your way for now. But i'm not giving up Jordan, not on what we have." "What we HAD Colby. What you and many others broke." I looked away not being able to lie anymore. "I'm not with anyone." He scoffed dragging myself attention. "So you just magically got here by yourself? And you have TWO drinks for yourself? You also had blood behind you ear when i first saw you, that's how i knew that was you. You only bleed when you-" "I know." I cut him off. "I can't tell you who i'm with now, if i'm with anyone. These could be for myself. And yes you could say i'm 'magical'" I half smiled and winked playfully. This felt like old times. Teasing and joking around like kids. I saw him smirk and he let go of my arm. "You're free to go ma lady." He winked back and i rolled my eyes. "Thank God too, you stink." I raised my eyebrows and made a grossed out face. He gasped and held his heart. "Ouch my already broken heart." I rolled my eyes "you have a girl douche, your heart shouldn't be broken." "Jordan she's-" "I don't care. I've got to go, i'll see you... someday." I smiled and walked to the doors. "Wait." I heard him whisper shout, making me turn to see nothing. When i looked straight i saw him so close my nose touched his chest. I stepped back "yes?" I asked slightly annoyed. He pulled out a pen i didn't see and gently grabbed my arm. He started to write something and i gave him a confused look as i looked at his writing then to his features i grown to love. "My number, i'm case you need it. Or want to talk. You can't transmute your way everywhere." He smirked then leaned to my ear looking down at me. "I also know you're not alone, i feel them. I'm not sure who but it's probably why Jake was going crazy. But i won't tell." I ignored his comment and nodded, not making it obvious to any.. listeners. "Thanks.. i guess? I already teleport everywhere though, you should know that by now." He nodded and walked around me. "True, see you around.. stranger." I smiled genuinely for once in a while. "Bye stranger."
