Jordan's pov
"Jordan?" I keep hearing my name being called, but i can't open my eyes. I can't seem to gain consciousness. "Jordan!" I gasp awake, my instincts reaching over me quickly to grab whatever was about to hit the floor. I look around me, noticing i'm no longer in the couch, but in Colbys bed. "Are you okay?" I ask the boy sitting in front of me, my eyes focusing and unfocusing on their own. "Yeah, just shaken up a bit i think." I threw the covers over me, the urge to stand up taking over me. But his bulky hands grab me by the waist before setting me down back on the bed, i was too weak to fight back. "There's broken glass right there." He said standing up and flashing out of the room. When he came back, he was holding a bag with a broom and dustpan. I quickly snapped out of mindset of being half awake half asleep and flashed next to Colby, being careful to pick up big pieces of glass. "I did this didn't i?" I asked picking up a few pieces. "It was only a cup, you caught the one other thing you lifted in your sleep." He said as we continued to be cautious around the glass. Or so i thought he was until he hissed in pain. "Careful, here lets go." I transmuted us to the bathroom, him sitting up on the counter. He sighed, passing me a first aid kit from his medicine cabinet. "Sorry for waking you." I said as i pulled everything i needed out carefully. "Don't worry about it, i wasn't even asleep anyways." I glared at him, inspecting the deep slice along the palm of his hand. "You got a good one." I said chuckling, i looked up, seeing him smile with me. "I'm going to have to take out any spare shards is that okay?" I asked looking directly at him. His eyes were tired, but his energy was filled with worry and sadness. "Yeah do whatever you need to do." I nodded, squinting my eyes as i focused my power on certain parts of the cut. Slowly, the glass shards slipped out like butter, which could've hurt him in the long run. He hissed, tightening his grip that was restraining me from going in. I let my hand graze his arm, trailing up and down to relax him. "Relax you're tense." I continued to rub his arm lightly with my good hand, loosening the tension in his arm. "Talk to me, keep yourself distracted." I said, looking up at him for a split second before letting my gaze go back to his hand. "What were you dreaming about that got you so panicked?" He asked, looking down at me. I slowly moved my fingers above his hand, gathering all the dirt away. "The usual, car crash. Memories that surfaced from a lifetime. That's why i never get sleep really, the monster wants out." I mumbled the last part, i was ashamed of who i was on the inside. That small part of me that i kept locked away unless i needed to. "What monster?" He asked as he clenched his teeth in slight pain. I looked up at him, my eyes flashing for a second before i shoved it away. "That monster." I said, swallowing hard. "You aren't a monster, Jordan. You're anything but that." His band came up to my hair, playing with it softly. My hand snapped to his quickly, latching onto his wrist. I quickly realized what i had done, the monster was trying to take over. And when it takes over, people can get hurt, they always get hurt. I let his hand go, looking away from him. "I'm sorry i didn't mean to do that." I tried to read him, looking for any source of fear, but i didn't find any. "Don't worry about it, i know how hard it is for you." He whispered, lowering his hand. "You aren't scared." I said more than asked as i took out any remaining stuff from his hand. "Of course not, i just have a question." I looked up at him as i began to close his wound. I was no healer, for sure. But i did know a few tricks about medical stuff. It's like stitching for me, you just think it, and go with the flow of your mind. "What's up?" "Is that why you don't like being touched?" I froze, blinking a few times before resuming what i was doing. "Part of it. I'm scared, i have a lot of built up anger from- numerous things really. I just don't want to mess up." I focused my thoughts on happier things, just in case my mind got the better of me. "You won't. I know you won't. And if you do, i'll always be here to help you clean up." He reassured me, and that's when i realized his eyes never left me. His gaze was tight, but that's how i knew i could trust his word. I should've looked for those signs last time, maybe they were there, and i was just too stubborn to see it. Sucking in my sadness, i fixed his hand up, smiling at my work. "All better." He looked down at his hand, shocked at it. "You aren't a healer though?" He touched the small scar it left behind, his eyes widening. "Nope. But an upside of my ability is i can do anything within my mindset, i wanted your cut gone, it's gone." He smiled, hopping down from the counter as i put the stuff back. "Wait so did it like transfer or something?" I followed him out to his room, switching the light on. "Well no that's not possible for me." "So it just disappeared?" I chuckled, but shook my head. "Energy cannot be created nor destroyed Brock, i simply take that energy and transform it into something more suitable." I said, holding the dustpan as he swept up the glass. "So what'd you turn it into?" "Glad you asked." I walked around his room, looking for any sort of life form until i found a small dried up rose. I smiled, grazing my hand over it. The pale pink it was before, and the dead green turned good as new, fixing itself with the spare energy i had. I picked it up, turning around to Colby as i handed out the rose to him. I saw his eyes widen, and a different energy came off of him than normal, he was happy, but a sad happy. He took it from my hand, carefully touching the petals before his glossy eyes met mine. "Don't ever day you're a monster again. Because this, this is amazing Jordan. You're amazing." I looked up at him, and wiped a tear from his face as i held his face in my hand. "Where'd you get it Colby?" I asked the question i was dying to ask, it was nagging me. "It was the one rose i kept from my friends funeral." He sobbed quietly, his hand hovering over his mouth. Colbys emotions filled the lack of him, overwhelming me. I pulled him into a hug, having to stand on my tippy toes to wrap my arms around his neck. "There's no need to thank me." I whispered, soothing him from the back of his head. He pulled away after a good while, his eyes puffy that made my heart ache for him. "I was actually thinking of what to do with it. It's not very ideal to keep a dead rose in your room." I took it from his hands, setting it down to where it was once before as we sat on his bed. "How long will it stay alive?" He asked already laying down, restless but under the covers. I lay down next to him, but not under the covers. And start to stroke the side of his hair, using the last bit of spare energy to help the deprived boy get a few hours rest. "As long as the sun still shines, and as long as i'm alive, it'll stay alive. Because once that energy is gone, it needs a new place to go, always." "You're truly incredible Jordan." He said, his eyes sleepy. "And you're beyond belief." I watched as he started to drift to sleep, which i'm guessing he doesn't get much of. I went to through away the glass, switching the light off for him and shutting his door. I got a glance at the time from the kitchen, four am? Accurate. I sighed, knowing i wouldn't be getting much sleep the rest of the night. So i decided to pick up around the place, and change into what i usually wear for missions, but my short sleeve version. When i finished, it was already a few hours past, so i killed time, sipping on a cup of coffee and watching tv in the living room. I found it odd that Colby had coffee in his house if he never drank it, but i didn't question it. After the sun started to come up, i walked out on the balcony, my feet dangling over the edge as the sun slowly started to slip out of the sky. I haven't seen a sun rise in a long time, it was truly beautiful.
