Jordan's pov
"Well what do we do with him now?" I asked, eyeing the bloody mess that was on the floor "Nothing, an eye for an eye." He said, high-fiving me. "Wait, but who died in our group?" I asked, as i handed Colby a paper to scribble on. "Well no one, but Adam is a little beat." I turned my head to the side, my eyes glued to the guy with the broad hands that seemed to cover my whole face at the time, making me shiver in fear for a moment. "Well technically Adam isn't part of the group, and he's not dead either." I commented, looking in his pockets for any sort of lead. "Oh well, she doesn't have to know the technicals." I nodded, before accidentally poking myself from the inside of his flannel. I cursed under my breath, flipping it over to see the same pin poking out, the symbol engraved into my head by now. But that's not what caught my eye. For some reason i felt intrigued by the small showing of his tattoo under his white tee, so much that i couldn't help but rip the fabric down the middle of the dead corpse under me. I almost shot up completely when i saw the tattoos that covered most of his body. "What are you- Oh my." Colby said, helping me stand before pulling me back a little. The man had that same symbol everyone in this little... "cult" i'll call it had. But it was huge imprinted on his chest, going from the center to his ribs, along with a lot of satanic symbols surrounding it. It almost scared me even, it's not something you see everyday. "That's... interesting." I commented, having to turn away from the scene for a second. "Maybe we should get out of here J, she doesn't seem to be here, and either way i'm sure Adam found some useful paperwork about her." I nodded, walking out the room. Something about all those tattoos still gave me an odd feeling, and this ponytail wasn't helping. I pulled it out, reliving the extra pain it gave my head. That guy committed his skin, his LIFE for this, but what as so special about it? The money? It better be hell of a lot then. Colby and i walked down the hall, i felt like he was talking to me, but i couldn't really zone into what he was saying exactly. "J? You there?" He turned to me, oh shit he was talking to me. "Yeah, yeah just, thinking you know." I said, as i continued to walk, but Colby didn't. "What's on your mind?" He asked, leaning against the wall. "I'm not sure exactly? I'm just trying to figure out what's so... special about this Britney girl that- that makes people want to commit their life to it? You know? That guy died, and it's no ones fault of Britney's if you think about it, so why would he be in it if he knew the consequences?" We walked as i talked, Colbys arm around my shoulders as he listened to me, giving me the occasional head nod. "Money maybe? I mean that would be a crazy amount of money though." "That's what i was thinking! I'm starting to think i didn't read enough Nancy Drew or True Crime books as a kid." I said, making him chuckle. "I'm sure what it is will turn up in that smart little brain of yours, it always does." I smiled, him kissing my forehead. I eased up just then, my heart warming up just by the slight affection. "Is everyone still at the fair?" I asked out of the blue, as walked through the maze of this building. "Yeah, they're trying to track down that girl, which is highly likely they won't. Why did you wanna go?" He asked, looking over to me. "I've never been to a fair before." I said, shrugging a little. He smiled, nodding. "Okay, we'll go then. Can't promise it'll be all romantic and stuff though, we're still 'working.'" He said, almost annoyed that we had a job to do. "Colby, making eye contact is romantic enough for me. You know i don't really care for that sappy stuff either." He smiled, raising his eyebrows. "Really?" He asked, before he turned in front of me, lifting me from my hips to spin me around, making me laugh before he kissed me. "So you didn't enjoy that sappy romantic shit i just did? Like straight out of a movie type of stuff?" He asked with a smile, keeping me close. "Nah this was enjoyable. I just love kissing my boyfriend around dead bodies." We laughed, both knowing i was half joking with that. Yeah i was a little psycho for sure. "I'll be sure to add 'kissing in a cemetery' in our bucket list." Colby laughed, making me laugh. "Don't forget 'kissing while covered in the blood of our enemies.'" He nodded, fist bumping me. "That's a good one." He paused. "We're crazy aren't we?" I laughed at him, but couldn't help but nod. "Maybe a little." He smiled. "Maybe like a little more than a little." He added, as i just chuckled. "Maybe like half crazy half special." "Hm, so crazy and special, kinda a mix of everything really. I like it." I nodded in agreement. "Me too, it's fitting." We walked into Adam half passed out as he laid on the floor, files in hand. "Oh God, is he dead?" I asked, tapping him with my foot. He groaned in response, obviously tired as heck. "Nope. Not dead." Colby said, flipping him so he was on his back. He groaned again in pain, making my eyes widen when i realized how actually hurt he was. It wasn't exactly my fault though, right? I placed my hands over his heart, trying to fix him up quickly. "What're you-" "Shush." I said to Adam, who was trying to pry my hands off of him with. Colby went to go through the files Adam had, taking a glance at me every so often. "Careful." He whispered, looking more at my hand placement then to me. Men. I felt weak for a second, before a spring of energy filled my body, Adam's cuts slowly clearing away. I stopped maybe two- thirds of the way, just because it was hurting and energizing me to do it. He said up, groaning a little. "You got it." Colby said, helping him up. Me, on the other hand had to puke up my guts in a trash can, guess that's how the energy was transferring this time. Colby moved over to me, gently scooping my hair away as he rubbed my back, his warm hand soothing me until my body gave up on throwing up. I felt even weaker then, making the mistake of teleporting the trash can out of here and to a dumpster a few blocks back. He pulled me into him, running his hands through my hair as i laid limp for a second, my body drained. "You did good, take a second." He said, resting his head on top of mine. "M tired." I mumbled, closing my eyes for a second. "Take it easy baby, i'll wake you when we get back to the crew." He said, lifting me up from the floor. I loved when Colby would do crazy things with me, but i'll always love his romantic side a little more. Don't tell him i said that though.
