The sweet aroma of pancakes and muffins filled her nose the moment Sam twisted the door knob, revealing an adequate-sized house that looked extremely spacious inside in comparison to how it looked on the outside.

Sam glanced at the three behind him before leading the way. Jared followed closely behind while Madelline trailed closely, eyes wandering around the place in awe. Her eyes fell upon the couple behind the kitchen counter who was acting all lovey-dovey, causing the two men beside her to scrunch their noses, feigning disgust.

The two remained oblivious to their presence as they watched how Sam peppered Emily's face, particularly the scar with dozens of kisses, emitting giggles from the brunette. She couldn't help but admire their relationship with how Emily balances out everything Sam doesn't have.

Emily only then noticed the three figures standing just by the door, looking anywhere but them as soon as they noticed their presence. She stifled a laugh behind her knuckles before patting Sam's forearm and pulling away.

"Come and eat or else these three would immediately finish it all," Emily ushered, stopping upon seeing a familiar face.

A wide grin broke out through her face at the sight of the girl standing between Jared and Pauk, "Madelline!" she squealed and quickly made her way over to wrap her arms around the girl.

The latter couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm before wrapping her arms around her as well. A warm smile came to her lips at how warm Emily was, both physically and mentally. Everything about the human screams nothing but warmth and comfort.

She doesn't know when it started—how she and Emily became close. Knowing her who had walls taller than her height, the brunette in front of her managed to worm her way in and warmed her heart in her own way. The two let go of one another with Emily holding her forearm.

"Hello to you, too, Emily," she smiled as she looked down at her.

Emily gave her one last hug before walking back behind the counter where Sam currently stood, a smile plastered on his lips as he watched the two of them. Madelline saw how he was fast to snake his arms around her waist the moment she neared him and hugged his side.

"Come! Eat with us," she invited, motioning over the table filled with pastries.

Jared and Paul pulled out their chairs, watching how Madelline slowly followed, hesitancy filled her movements. Paul held back a snicker and pulled out the chair beside him, catching her attention. The girl beside him only tilted her head in confusion, watching how he gestured the pulled-out chair.

"She can't eat," Jared told them with his mouth filled. Madelline scrunched her face at him before crossing her arms against her chest and cocking an eyebrow at him. "She's half leech—"

She kicked the legs of his chair, causing him to almost topple over while Madelline made her toward Paul's other side to sit but not before sending a cocky look Jared's way. The boy only rolled his eyes at her and adjusted his sit.

"I mean, she's half-vampire so she can't consume food," he continued. "Happy now?" he raised an eyebrow at her before taking a mouthful of the bread.
