A/N: If you've seen 50/50, you'll most likely understand more of this story.

You sit in a doctor's office with your parents. You're playing with your shoelace on a little couch, while your parents sit in two chairs at the desk.

Mom: God, what's taking the doctor so long?

Dad: This is a hospital. Doctors take a long a time.

Your parents look at you playing with your shoelace.

Mom: I just wanna know what the fevers are about.

Dad: I'm sure it's nothing.

The doctor opens the door.

Doctor: Hello, Mr. and Mrs...

He looks at his file to check your parent's last name.

Doctor: L/N.

The doctor sits down.

Mom: So... what is it? Migraines or something?

Doctor: No. I'm afraid it's more serious than that.

Your mom and dad look at each other with worry in their eyes. They look back at the doctor.

Dad: W--what is it?

The doctor takes two x-ray pictures out of the file. He slides them one of the pictures.

Doctor: This is a normal, healthy brain of a child the same age as your son.

He slides them the other photo.

Doctor: This is your son's.

They spot a big white spot in the brain.

Dad: Is that a...

Your dad looks up at the doctor in shock.

Mom: Is that a tumor?

The doctor nods.

Your mom gasps.

Dad: What kind of cancer is it?

Doctor: ...Leukemia.

Your dad stands up and walks over to the window.

Mom: Is...is he gonna be okay?

Doctor: The tumor may spread, that is always a possibility. But that doesn't mean that Y/N will die.

Mom: What are the percentage rates?

Doctor: You see, Y/N has what is called "AML," that means Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Basically it's disrupting the production of Y/N's normal blood cells.

Mom: Okay, but what is the SURVIVAL rate.

Doctor: ...27.4%

Your mom goes wide eyed. She looks at you.

Mom: S-s-so what do we do? I-I-I mean is there treatment to make him better?

Your mom looks at the doctor.

Mom: I mean, how will this affect his life?

Doctor: If Y/N does survive this, then nothing will happen in his future life.

Your dad turns around.

Dad: How long does he have?

The doctor looks at your father.

Doctor: We don't know yet.
