You, Clem, AJ, and Jack all walk over to a shooting range. There are kids behind hay bales, waiting for you and Clem. There are metal silhouette targets a few yards in front of the hay bails.

Jack: Alright, guys.

All the kids look at Jack.

Jack: Y/N and Clem will be teaching you how to shoot a pistol today. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask them. Get into your lines.

The kids get into two lines. AJ walks up to one and joins them.

Jack looks at you and Clem.

Jack: It's simple; you just have to show them gun safety, tell them how to aim, and then how to shoot. Remember to mention what dad always said: Squeeze--

You: Not pull. Yeah, I got it.

Jack: You both have to do one line.

You and Clem nod.

Jack walks away.

You walk over to a table with two pistols and two silencers. You grab a pistol and silencer, and so does Clem. You attach the silencer to the pistol, and Clem does so as well. The silencer keeps the bullet from making a loud bang--that way you can practice without walkers hearing.

You walk over to the left line, and Clem walks over to the right line. You get on one knee next to the first kid in line. You turn around and you look at the line.

You: Okay, so the first thing we need to know about is safety.

You stand up and you turn around to face the targets.

You: Now I know that if someone tries to come at you--your first instinct is to just draw and shoot. You say, drawing the pistol in one swift motion like a gunslinger. You'll miss--and you'll die. You need to know how to keep your hands calm. You say, holding up the pistol in the correct way. You need to know that every bullet matters. You need to know that when you shoot, it better be life or death.

You lower the gun and you turn around.

You: Everyone got that?

They all nod.

You look back at the targets.

You: When you know that you don't need to shoot anything, you put the gun on safety. You say, turning on safety. The bullet cannot fire when you do this, no matter what.

You turn the safety off. You aim at the target.

You: Before you shoot with a new magazine, make sure you put a bullet in the chamber by pulling back this slide. You say, pulling the slide back. When you shoot, you need to breathe--it keeps your hands steady. Make sure you don't lock your elbows. Look down the muzzle and line up the front sight and the rear sight. When you're ready to shoot, you squeeze the trigger, you don't pull it.

*PEW!*
You hit the target directly in the forehead. You lower the gun and you turn around. You lean on the hay bale.

You: Any questions?

A kid raises his hand.

You: Yeah?

He lowers his hand.

Kid: What's the difference between pulling the trigger and squeezing it?

You: Squeezing the trigger is smoother. Anyone else?

No one raises their hand.

You: Great.

You turn around and you hand the pistol to the kid.

You: Nice and Easy...

Kid: Nice and easy...

*PEW!*
He shoots and completely misses.

Kid: EEK!

You: You alright?

Kid: My hands hurt.

You: Oh, the déjà vu.

You cross your arms.

You: Okay, just aim a little to the left next time.

He positions himself.

You: Little higher.

He positions himself again.

You: Now.

*PEW!*
He hits the target directly in the forehead.

Kid: I did it!

You: Good job.

The kid places the gun down on the hay bale. The next kid comes and he grabs the gun. She aims at the target.

*PEW!*
She misses.

You: Aim a little lower.

*PEW!*
She hits the target in the forehead.

Small timeskip
After all the kids were done, it's now AJ's turn.

You: You ready, goofball?

AJ: Yeah.

He picks up the pistol and aims at the target.

*PEW!*
He hits the target right in between the eyes.

You: Damn.

AJ: I did it!

You: Yeah, you did!

He looks at you.

AJ: That wasn't hard at all!

You smirk.

You: You clearly have been paying attention.

Clem walks up to you and AJ.

Clem: Nice shot, goofball!

AJ turns to Clem.

AJ: Thanks, Clem!

You look at Clem.

You: You done with your line?

Clem: Yeah.

She smirks.

Clem: Most of my line was made up of girls, so it was pretty easy.

You cross your arms and smile.

You: What's THAT supposed to mean?! You say in a playful manner.

Clem giggles.

Clem: Oh...nothing.

You: Uh-huh.

AJ: I think she's saying that girls can learn faster.

You: Yeah, I got it, AJ. You say, with a chuckle.

You look at Clem.

You: So I think AJ gets the rest of the day off.

AJ: Awesome!

He runs off.

You and Clem take out your chore lists.

You: What do you have next?

Clem: Fishing. You?

You: Weapon cleaning.

Clem: Alright. I guess I better get going.

She kisses you. She smiles at you and you smile back.

Clem: See you at dinner.

She turns around and walks away.

You walk away from the shooting range.
