chapter 72: just one bite

Jieun sighed as she lay down on her bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

"Jieun-ssi, Jieun-ssi!" Chungha had approached her earlier that afternoon when she had finally come out of Namjoon's office. "What happened? What did you talk to bujang-nim about?"

"Nothing," Jieun lied. "Just some stuff to discuss with him about JK."

"Ah, I see..." Hoseok heaved a sigh of relief as he glanced at Chungha. "The two of us were worried for nothing then. We thought it was something serious."

Jieun forced a laugh. "Haha, yeah."

"So... you'll be going for the Love House filming next week, Jieun-ssi?" Hoseok carried on. "Have you thought about what we told you the last time about backing out before it's too late?"

"Yeah, have you?" Chungha chimed in. "The last time we said that you should leave his side and come back to work - have you made up your mind about that?"

That was the dilemma someone like Hyejin, an extremely passionate reporter, would have to make - whether to give up on Jungkook or not. But for Jieun, she was different - she had chosen Jungkook over her reporting career. The dilemma she had to make previously was whether to give up on reporting or not.

And she had already made up her mind.

"You two are on good terms again today, huh-" Jieun commented weakly, trying to change the subject.

"Huh? Oh-" Chungha smiled as she glanced at Hoseok. "Yeah-"

"I mean... we were always on pretty good terms, weren't we?" Hoseok laughed, before glancing back at Jieun, his smile fading a little. "Hey, Jieun-ssi, where are you going?"

Jieun, who was heading towards the door in a valiant attempt to escape from her awkward situation, turned around. There was no way she could tell her seniors about her decision yet - especially when they had provided her with nothing but support and encouragement throughout her brief few months together in the company. She knew how disappointed they would be if they found out - maybe if they heard it from Namjoon himself... it wouldn't be so bad.

"Oh, um-" Jieun let out a nervous chuckle. "I realised that I need to rush somewhere, sunbae-nim. I'll take my leave first."

And that's how she had escaped.

Jieun let out another deep sigh as she closed her eyes, covering herself with the sheets once more.

Being a reporter... or Jungkook... Hoseok and Chungha... or Jungkook... Going on TV... or Jungkook... Outdoing Hyejin... or Jungkook... Pride... or-

Her door opened at that moment and Jungkook opened the door with a smile. "Hi."

"Oh-" Jieun hurriedly sat up in bed and tidied her hair a little. "Hey."

"Dinner?"

Jieun was starving.

"Ah-" Jieun wanted some alone time to think. "You can go ahead without me."
