chapter 91: i'm sorry, i love you

"Bujang!"

Namjoon, who had his head hung low, looked up and spotted Hoseok approaching him from afar.

"Oh-" Namjoon pursed his lips and adjusted his coat a little as Hoseok ran towards him. "Hoseok-ssi-"

"Bujang! I heard that you just met with Jieun-ssi?" Hoseok asked urgently, much to Namjoon's surprise that this was the first thing he was saying to him after the awkward situation earlier in thr morning. "What did you guys talk about?"

"I just came back from meeting her, actually-" Namjoon admitted. "But... the meeting didn't go too well."

"Huh?" Hoseok's face fell. "It didn't go well? Why? What happened?"

Namjoon hesitated. "Well, how much do you know?"

It was Hoseok's turn to hesitate a little. "How much do you know, bujang? I may know more than you, actually."

Namjoon stared blankly at Hoseok.

"Hurry up and tell me!" Hoseok frowned. "What did Jieun-ssi say? I'm so nervous... The last time she came to the office a couple days back, she was acting so weird too, and refused to tell us in detail what she told you in your office... I'm getting worried for her..."

So he didn't know, after all, that Jieun was planning to quit resign then... and had just resigned today.

"Ah..." Namjoon bit his lower lip, thinking hard about what had happened earlier at the café. "I think it'll be better if I let her tell you on her own... After all, so much happened today..."

The atmosphere between Jungkook and Jieun had seemed... off. Like, they had something going on. But he was dating Jennie, wasn't he? Other than the document she had found and a couple of clues here and there, as far as what he knew, Jieun hadn't confirmed that their relationship was fake. But Namjoon's instincts told him that something between them smelled fishy.

"Come on, I can't wait for her to tell me!" Hoseok sighed loudly. "Bujang-nim, she doesn't tell me much these days... She barely comes to work, she barely reports to me about anything, it's like she has completely forgotten all of us and immersed herself into that makeup artist job of hers..."

Namjoon eyed Hoseok carefully. "I tell you what, if you tell me what I need to know, I'll tell you whatever you want."

Hoseok's eyes lit up. "Really?"

"Yeah, but only if you cooperate."

Hoseok nodded excitedly. "Sure."

"Tell me-" Namjoon narrowed his eyes, letting his instincts take over. "Do you know anything that I don't know about Jungkook and Jennie's relationship?"

Hoseok froze up at once. "Well... I... I can't..."

"You do, huh."

"I don't."

"Why didn't you tell me their relationship was fake?"

"I wanted to tell you-" Hoseok caught himself, facepalming immediately after realising that he had falling right into Namjoon's trap. "I swear it wasn't in my intention not to tell you, bujang! Jieun-ssi was the one who begged me not to tell you... and I agreed because I felt bad for her, she was having such a hard time because of her feelings-"
