No one is surprised, there's a lot of ships in this fandom
Some that make some sense, and some that seriously just don't(you know which ones)
But I love them all equally so here's some headcanons

DC x Florida:

- Florida likes to adjust DC's tie whenever he can
what a housewife

- since DC is an insomniac, and Florida hates going to sleep alone, he'll just stay up for hours at a time and wait for DC to get back to their room
DC's tried to convince him to go to sleep earlier, but Florida just always response with "thEn whY dONt yOu >:((", so DC just tries to get home as soon as he can

- They really like going on dates to either the beach or just stargazing
DC prefers walking along the beach since he just wants a place where him and Florida can talk, and Florida likes star gazing since it lets him ramble on and on about space and how cool it is

- Florida has tried to get DC wrapped up in his tangents many times, almost all of which have failed
He has managed to get him to go to some parties though
A drunk DC is funniest DC

- One time DC called Florida "Sunshine" and Florida straight up started crying
DC panicked and tried comforting him while also lowkey laughing at him

- DC's tried to keep Florida out of trouble illegal wise by trying to convince him that y'know, breaking laws are bad, but none of his attempts have worked
At this point, his only advice to Florida whenever he's about to do something is "don't get caught"
I like to think that DC's done some sketchy stuff before to try and keep him from getting into more legal trouble

Florida x Louisiana:

- They would very much be those best friends who didn't know if they were catching feelings or not
Spoiler, they did, and advanced from best friends to boyfriends

- Their dates are..unique, to say the least I guess

I feel like they'd be a secret to the other states (not particularly because they cared if they found out, they just forgot to tell them), and they already were pretty close, so it wouldn't really be surprising to see them just leaving the house at around 7-8pm then coming home the next morning
The dates are usually a weird combination of stealing shopping carts, and also oddly romantic moments

- Their favorite time to be together is fall
Mainly because Loui loves to watch Florida get all flustered and annoyed by the colder weather, and Florida gets an excuse to steal Loui's hoodies

- As expected, they've gone to tons of bars together and gotten absolutely wasted
However just because they're drunk doesn't mean they wouldn't beat the actual shit out of you if you try anything with the other

Texas x California:

- Texas was in denial for way longer than Cali

- They both nickname each other based on their state flower
Cali's nickname is Poppy and Texas' nickname is Bonnie (Cali's nickname has already been used before in a fic, so Texas gets one too damnit)

- Texas was the first person Cali trusted to bring to his flower field when they were still little
He was also very respectful about how much Cali cared about the flowers. He didn't pick any of them, and at least tried his best to not step on any of them. They'd sit and talk for hours in the middle of the field, and Texas would only run back after he realized he was late

- Cali's stole Texas' hat way more times than he can count
As of recently, whenever Texas wakes up and sees his hat missing, he just gets dressed, finds Cali, and just fucking tackles and rat-

- Cali has a problem with bring home cats, and Texas has a problem with letting him keep them
They currently have 3 (two of them being from Ms BrianaH26 's book)

Alaska x Hawai'i:

- childhood best friends childhood best friends-

- They were inseparable as kids, and still would be if they lived in the same area

- They're very, very connected with each other's emotions since they grew up together in similar situations and some pretty traumatic moments(I feel like back when they were still territories they were taken from their homes and stayed with the states for some years, so it was good that they had someone else that was going through it. That isn't including what Hawai'i went through during the forties)

- In other words, if one of them is have a sad episode or just a bad day, the other is making them feel better by just existing

- They're just giant kids with dirtier minds, so them being together radiates a sort of soft chaotic vibe
Like if someone outside is preaching hateful stuff, they would chase them away with pop-its and sticks but also not fully understand what they're talking about

- Hawai'i sometimes talks for Alaska when he's being especially quiet near others. Also, she's just pretty good at being able to tell how he's feeling or what he's thinking

Kansas x Iowa:

- Interesting how I have more hc's about the crackship then the other ones

- Both states have a thing for nature, since Kansas has his wheat and Iowa has his corn
Insert both of them getting lost in fields on the countryside, running and chasing each other until the crash on the floofy grass and fall asleep

- Kansas is a small chaotic being, in contrast to Iowa being a sarcastic sass
With this and the fact that Iowa always looked done with Kansas' ass, it was very surprising to the other states when they found out they were dating

- Kansas uses his bat to threaten people on a bases
Usually people who stare at him and his boyfriend weirdly when they hold hands
"what you staring at? i own a bat and can swing it damn well you bitch-"

- If Iowa is annoyed with Kansas or wants to tease him, he'll call him Dorothy or Pancake

- As for actual cute nicknames, Kansas is Honeybee and Iowa is Rose
Iowa thought of it because of wholesome reasons, but Kansas has definitely made some stupid dirty joke about it
