Most of the countries who used to be colonies often do something to remind themselves of their native people, this usually made their empires somewhat angry
Sometimes it is wearing native clothing or styling their hair in the ways their native had done so, and usually the colonies who used to live with their native parents before they were taken by their colonizers would often have native tattoos or piercings (if they had tattoos/piercings in their culture)
A lot of more people are accepting of them doing such things now in this modern world, but in the past, the empires and sometimes even their own leaders didn't like them to dress up as their natives, but bold of anyone to assume that would stop them
