For those of you who don't know, Xia is (unknown if actually true) the first dynasty of china

And once, when Xia existed he found what is now known as a Chinese giant salamander, although back then he just called it whatever word he had for it.

As animals that are the pets of nations life longer than most animals, and can actually live as long as the personification itself, the salamander actually lived longer than Xia himself

When Xia died and the next dynasty took over, Shang, he kept the salamander and named it Xia, for it had reminded him of his father, and so he kept Xia (the pet) and it lived with him for his life

And so, for thousands of years, Xia (the salamander) has been passed down from Chinese dynasty to Chinese dynasty, all the way to modern china

When there were a period of warring states in china, usually Xia was kept between all of them in respect for their ancestor who first owned him, they had an agreement to not bring any harm to Xia even when they were all in war

Xia is now well behaved and very well trained and often helps whatever Chinese personification that is in power by doing whatever simple tasks it can or keeping a look-out

After a few dynasties, there became a rumor that Xia had the spirit of his namesake, as they had been alive at the same point in time.

Modern china does keep Xia, but allows Taiwan to see it, as she is his sister

Xia might be the oldest living thing in the world
