56: Maces and Talons (Part 2)

"I don't get it!" Hiccup said in frustration as we landed back on the small island. "How did Viggo get away?! How did we lose Heather, Windshear and the Flightmare?!"

'Well...' I bit my tongue as many reasons came to mind but alas, he meant it as a rhetorical question.

"I don't even wanna think about what they're going to do to her and those dragons." Astrid sighed and bit her lip.

"We'll save them." I said reassuringly and put a hand on her shoulder.

Fishlegs, Tuff and Ruff suddenly landed next to us with their dragon.

"You guys find anything?" Hiccup asked them.

Fishlegs shook his head. "No, the fog was too thick. They used it as cover and just vanished."

"We should've just pulled Heather out, Hiccup." Astrid started ranting again. "I knew something like this was..."

"Astrid!" Hiccup yelled to get her attention. "She wouldn't have come with us."

"It could be worse." Tuff said casually while checking his nails. "We could've brought the Dragon Eye."

Ruffnut's eyes widened and she punched her brother.

"Ow!"

"How do you know I didn't bring the Dragon Eye?" Hiccup asked him suspiciously.

"How did I know you didn't bring the Dragon Eye?" Tuff repeated.

Ruff hit Tuff again and then smiled innocently.

"OUCH."

"Yeah. Okay. You're right. I didn't bring it." Hiccup told us.

"Thank Thor!" I sighed a breath of relief.

There was a flapping of wings and Hookfang landed next to us.

"No kidding." Snotlout scoffed. "Then Viggo would have had Heather, Windshear, the Flightmare AND the Dragon Eye."

Hiccup's eyes widened and he looked like he'd been hit by a Rumblehorn. "Which is back on Dragon's Edge completely unguarded."

When Dragons Edge finally came into view it was clouded with smoke and fire and mass destruction.
Fishlegs: Look at this. I feel violated.

"This is the last part of Viggo's plan." Hiccup said through gritted teeth.

"Lead us away from the Edge so the rest of the hunters in the armada can stay behind and come after the Dragon Eye." Snotlout spoke as he finally realized the plan as well.

"How did I not see that?" Hiccup growled and flew to what was left of his hut.

Spike and I followed then dodged various items that were been thrown as Hiccup looked for the Dragon Eye. Flying gears, wrenches, books, pencils, my cloak-

"Oh!" I gasped and caught it. "I forgot I left this here." What can I say? Sometimes it gets very cold and lonely at night, here on Dragons Edge.

"It's gone. They got it." Hiccup sighed and walked back to the others.

"Are you sure you put it away after you got it back from the twins?" Snotlout asked.

"Got it back from the twins?" Hiccup repeated. "What are you talking about?"

"Wow. They really wrecked this place." Hiccup said as we entered the twins and Snotlout's secret hideout.
