65: Tone Death

"Okay, gang!" Hiccup called to us. "Stay with your teammate and lock down your specific island. This dragon hunter is sneaky."

We nodded and went off in different directions, my team being Astrid and Heather. I'm not sure what the twins were doing, only that dragon hunters were moving charge that we were gonna burn.

"I think we should move in slowly, preserve the element of-" Astrid was cut off by yelling and a Zippleback flying past us at speed.

"Coming in hot!" Tuff yelled.

"Woo-ooo-ooo!" Ruff cheered and together they set the ship on fire.

"-surprise..." Astrid sighed.

"Voila!" Tuff cheered.

"Dragon egg!" Ruff yelled which immediately caught my attention.

"Dragon egg?" I repeated to Spike. "We've gotta get it off that boast before it goes down."

"Guys, we need to protect the egg, not fry it." Astrid yelled at the twins, then dodged a net that the hunters fired at them.

"We're never gonna get out of here!" A hunter yelled from below.

"It's the egg they want!" Another yelled.

"They want the egg? Give it to 'em!" And they loaded the egg into the catapult to my horror.

"Get ready to move, guys!" Astrid told us.

"Fire!" A hunter yelled and the egg was launched in the air.

"We got it! We got it!" Ruff yelled and opened her arms.

"We got it!" Tuff yelled also trying to catch it.

"Back off, Twidiots. It's mine!" Snotlout rammed the twins and tried to grab the egg.

"Back off, Snotlout!" Ruff yelled and had the Zippleback bash him.

"Heather!" Astrid yelled.

"Got it! Huh! No!"

"Spike!" I yelled and he made a steep dive towards the egg. Just as it was about to hit the water, we slid under it and it landed in my arms. "Oh, thank Thor!" I sighed and Spike brought us back up to the others.

"Well, that was fun." Hiccup said sarcastically. "Hey, I've got an idea, how about we get this back to the Edge, safely. It's definitely not a Changewing."

"Yes!" I cheered, not caring that it wasn't a Changewing and just that we were bringing it home.

"Thank Thor." Fishlegs sighed in relief.

Hiccup flew up next to me and Spike to take a closer look at the egg. "And it's not the type of any of our dragons."

"Oh, can you imagine Meatlug with her very own egg? It would be so cute. Aww." Fishlegs fangirled.

"Uh, no." I said bluntly and hugged the egg. "I caught them and now they are my child. I'll protect this egg, then baby with my life! If you're good and don't kidnap my dragons again, I may give you babysitting privileges."

"That was one time!" Fishlegs pouted, recalling Speedy being taken from me in the night.

"It's probably a good idea to leave the egg with, (Y/n)." Hiccup told him. "She's got the most experience with baby dragons."

I did kinda train a baby Screaming Death, so yeah.

"Okay, blankets." I said to myself and made them into a nest. "Spike, can you bring up the fire?"
