Thank you guys for all your nice comments, they mean a lot. Sorry for the late update, thanks to the pandemic I've been given time to ride my horse for the first time in forever. She's the closest I've got to a dragon, lol. Anyways, that's why I've been...delayed. Without further ado~
"All right. I think one more plasma blast should do the trick, bud." Hiccup said and Toothless fired again.
"Whoo! Great job!" Hiccup cheered and then started coughing because of the smoke.
I jumped on the feet of the telescope and peered one eye into it. "Nice. I can see straight to the horizon." I said and jumped down.
"That should definitely make it harder for anyone to sneak up on us." Astrid added after she took a look herself.
"I wonder how the twins' lookout tower is coming along." I questioned aloud and cast my eyes to the supposed place that the twins 'should' be building a watchtower.
"I can only imagine." Astrid said and rolled her eyes. "I'll go take a look" she got on Stormfly and flew away.
"Okay," I said and turned my attention to Hiccup. "What is it?" I asked. His eyes widened in surprise and could see him debating to play it off cool instead of telling me, so I just cocked an eyebrow at him.
"How do you always know?!" Hiccup sighed.
"You're clenching your teeth and drawing circles in the dirt with your foot." I pointed out and took a step closer to him. "I won't force you to tell me, but it's probably better if you get it off your mind." I said.
"Alright," He sighed again and took a breath. "It's just that with Dagur back, we both know that it will most likely lead to more fighting, more enemies. And I know you aren't gonna like this, but I think it's better if we keep our trump card hidden." Hiccup explained and looked me in the eyes.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked in confusion.
"(Y/n), Spike is almost immune to every attack known to Viking, when in a few years he's done growing he'll probably be invincible to all Vikings and dragons.-"
"You want me to get rid of my dragon!" I snapped, now getting very angry and Spike uncoiled the rose up high above us, looking incredibly intimidating.
"No, no, no, no! I would never ask that of you! I think you need to keep Spike as a Night Fury for a while, even when we're here at The Edge, it's just safer that way..." Hiccup finished softly, grabbing my hand and staring at me while I avoided his gaze and looked at the ground.
We just stood in silence for a minute.
"Look, I know it's a lot to ask but-" I cut Hiccup off,
"No! I mean, you're right, as always. It's just..."
"Spike shouldn't have to hide but as a Screaming Death he's putting himself and you in danger." Hiccup said.
"But Dagur already knows that Spike is a Screaming Death, he'll go after him anyway," I mentioned as my mind raced.
"But nobody will believe him, one he's deranged, two he's going to be telling people that the Night Fury can transform into a Screaming Death; who's going to believe that." Hiccup said, pretty much ending the conversation.
"Alright, boy," I said sadly to Spike. He roared in dismay but turned into a Night Fury none the less. "I'm so sorry," I mumbled, hugging his head and clutching the Screaming Death pendant that Hiccup made me a few years ago.
"Let's go see if Fishlegs has found anything more about the Dragon eye." Hiccup suggested and we flew to Fishlegs'.
