"Then why didn't you?"

Hiccup and I were back in the forest, at the last place we saw the Nightfury.

"Beats me? Maybe because you didn't kill him?" I said and crouched down next to Hiccup, who was examining the rope.

There was a loud roar and we looked at each other before running towards the sound. We approach a cliff ,where we saw the black dragon jump and fall back down.

Hiccup put the shield he brought in front of him and tried to get through the narrow opening. That resulted in the shield getting stuck, so we had to slide under it.

On the other side was large beautiful cove. The grass was all bright green and it had a crystal blue pond in the middle. There was a small cave at the far end, a few small trees and many vines and flowers.

"Wow." I breathed and stood up on the small ledge we were on. It was breathtaking. That was until the Nightfury jumped close to me and I fell backwards and on top of Hiccup.

We both groaned in pain. "Sorry," I said while rubbing my head.

"N-no p-problem!" I open my eyes and I was sitting on his chest.

"What's wrong? Never had a girl sit on you before?!" I laughed and his face turned bright red.

"(Y/n)!"

"I'm moving, I'm moving!" I giggled and got off him.

"Hey look at this!" Hiccup said and picked up a black scale. He then grabbed is sketch book and drew a picture of the dragon

"Why don't you just...fly away?" He asked and erased one on the tail fins that he drew. Looking back to see that the dragon only had one.

We watched the dragon for a bit. He made it pretty clear that he couldn't catch any fish by himself.

Hiccup slowly made his way down the wall and to the dragon with a fish. It growled at him menacingly and Hiccup pulled out a tiny knife and dropped it to the ground. The dragon was no longer growling at him, but still at the knife.

I panicked as he kicked it the pond but was relieved when the dragon sat down and eyes widened like a cat. Hiccup when to feed him the fish and when the dragon opened his mouth, his teeth were gone!

"Toothless? I could have sworn you had-" suddenly teeth shot out from the dragons gums and he violently ate the fish. "teeth..." Hiccup finished.

The dragon backed him against a boulder and looked Hiccup all over for more food. He said that he didn't have any, and the dragon regurgitated some fish on his lap. I laughed out loud and Hiccup sent me a glare.

The dragon licked his lips and gestured for Hiccup to eat the fish. I gagged as Hiccup bit into the fish and smiled at the dragon. The dragon swallowed for Hiccup to do the same. Hiccup gave him a pleading look, then swallowed the fish as I almost puked in my mouth.

Hiccup forced a smile and gave the rest of the fish to the dragon. The dragon then tried to mimic his smile, it was pretty cute. Hiccup stretched out his arm to touch the scaly beast, but it roared and ran away.

I then slipped into the cove and cautiously walked over to Hiccup as the dragon eyed me.

"Hi!" I gave the dragon a closed eyed smile and he once again tried to smile back. I giggled and went over to Hiccup and helped him up.

"I think you should try kissing Astrid now, fish-slobber breath!~" I teased and Hiccup once again glared at me. "I'm sure it'll really woo her!" I laughed and sat down on a log.

I could tell Hiccup was going to give me a smart ass remark like he always does, and I was correct. But was also shocked and flustered.

"Well why don't I just kiss you, if you think it's so amazing!" He shot at me with a very annoyed tone. Hiccup's cheeks turned pink, as did mine.

"W-well lover boy, we both know you would highly prefer Astrid!" I tried to joke and ended up stuttering.

Hiccup mumbled something under his breath and sat next to me. He grabbed a stick and started to sketch the Nightfury in the dirt. I just watched as he drew, he always had such a talent for it. Not that it helped him in the popularity department.

A few moments later we felt breathing down our necks. Hiccup and I looked at each other and he continued drawing as the dragon watched. Eventually he left and we heard a *snap* and looked over. The dragon had ripped a tree from the ground and started drawing a big picture in the dirt.

I stood up and a few seconds later, so did Hiccup.

"Pick me up!" I ordered him, looking him in the eye.

"W-wha why?!" He stuttered and he could feel his face heating up.

"Would you just do it?" I said annoyed.

"O-Okay."

I stood on the log and sat on his shoulders to look at the drawing. "Hey! He drew you!" I said and ruffled his hair. "Alright I'm coming down!" And slid off his back. "Now go pet him."

"What?!" Hiccup said surprises, then I pushed him forward. He stumbled and one of his feet was on a line of the dragons picture. The dragon growled but when Hiccup took his food off he went back to normal. Hiccup tested the foot on the line thing a few more times and eventually started to go over them. Hiccup spun over the lines doing a strange dance and ended up being face to face with the dragon.

Hiccup extended is arm to touch him but the dragon growled lowly. Hiccup clenched his eyes and looked away then extended his arm again. He touched the dragons head. Hiccup turned his head to look at him, but the dragon swept away and went to go sleep in a bat like position.

Hiccup walk back over to me and I gave him a thumbs up. "Well Hiccup, you're training a dragon." I smiled at him.

"Yah, sure." He laughed. "Let's head back, that's enough for today." He said and we climbed up to the ridge and exited the cove.

"I think- scratch that, I know, that we can't tell anyone about him." Hiccup said to me as we walked through the dense forest. "What is wrong with me? Am I protecting a dragon?!" He tangled his hands in his hair and criticized himself.

"Hey! Hiccup, it just means you have a heart. Who knows, maybe one day you two could fly across the sky!" I said, jumping on a fallen trunk and crapily mimicked flying.

"That's it! (Y/n), you're a genius!" Hiccup slammed his fist in his hand.

"Why, thank you~"
