"I am going to Texas," he told his friend who turned around, dropping her textbook. He knew the look he must have on his face. I will get through this

"I am so sorry," she said and scrambled off her bed to reach him. "I know you don't have good memories there but-"

"Conan is going too," he said, looking down at his phone and reading the e-mail. "Maybe I should just quit and stay here. I have exams in four weeks and I have to stay there for two."

"I mean you just have to pass, right?" she said, looking at his screen. "You can do that easily and then you will have a good job. It's in Georgetown?"

He kept his silence, unable to decide whether or not he wanted to go. If he stayed, he could study and get better grades but they wouldn't matter, would they? The internships had already been assigned. He would let the best one slips away, the one with a record productions company. Freaking Republic. Students would slit throats for that job. Did he really want to let it go? His old friends would be there, Samuel, Hunter and Rob.  He would get through it. No one in town would missed him enough to care he would return.

"I am going," he said, his breath hitching for a second. "I-It will be okay."

"Conan is from there too," she pointed out. "He would make sure no one picks on you or anything."

"I don't need a babysitter," he quipped, looking up from his phone.

"You don't," she said, smiling secretively. "You just need a really special...um, friend."

In the evening, two hours before the sun brushed against the horizon like a temptress, Heath and Lim settled at a coffee shop across the street

In the evening, two hours before the sun brushed against the horizon like a temptress, Heath and Lim settled at a coffee shop across the street. They usually wouldn't go there because the waitress would give them a stink the whole time for ordering once and staying for hours. Out of desperate need for coffee and revision, they sat on the corner table.

Lim didn't like group studying sessions but did them with Heath anyways. Usually they would end up talking and distracting each other but today was oddly quiet. In fact, Heath could take in a of of information and formulas for ratio of body parts and whatnot. Lim seemed to be content with the taste of the coffee and her work.
