3 YEARS LATER

"Trick or treat, mommy!"

"Not yet, honey," Veronica said, flipping a pancake, "We're going tonight."

"Daddy broke my tiara," Hera cried, running into the kitchen.

Klaus hurried in immediately after, sending Veronica a pleading look, "I was trying to fix it and it broke."

"I'm not a princess anymore!"

"Can someone tell Hera to stop crying, it's giving me a headache," Henrik groaned, rubbing his eyes as he dragged his feet into the kitchen.

For the halloween weekend, Veronica and Klaus wanted their kids home. Ever since moving into the new house years ago, they established their own traditions for each holiday.

Seeing as Veronica and Klaus enroll their kids in the Salvatore Boarding School once they turn ten, it's officially Hera's last Halloween being homeschooled before she starts next fall.

While it's bittersweet for Veronica, it's like a breath of fresh air for Klaus.

Shortly after graduating from college, Veronica accomplished her dream of landing a job at NASA. It's a bit of a long car ride, but the brunette has been in love with working at NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans.

When Veronica is at work during the day, Klaus stays home and homeschools the kids. It's not that he minds it, it's just that Hera, in particular, inherited both of her parents' impatience and won't sit still.

"Don't be an ass, Henrik," Hope said, putting an arm around a sniffling Hera and bringing her over to the table.

"Language," Klaus shot Hope a look, "But I agree."

"She wouldn't be crying if you didn't break her tiara," Veronica shrugged, bringing the plate of pancakes over to the table.

Hope snorted while she began making designs with the syrup to cheer Hera up.

Looking down at her daughters, Veronica couldn't help but smile. Hope adored her siblings and would always comfort them, no matter what she was doing.

"I'll fix your tiara by the time we go out tonight," Veronica said, stroking the top of Hera's head, "And to make up for it, daddy will dress up with you."

"Excuse me, love?"

Henrik choked on his pumpkin flavored pancake, his shoulder shaking as he silently laughed.

The one thing Klaus Mikaelson would never do is dress up for halloween. He would gladly watch his wife get all done up, but would never do it himself. He hated costumes and would much rather steal his kids candies while they were sleeping.

"I'm sure you can find something to wear, dad. After all, you're ancient."

"Enough from you," Klaus lightly slapped the back of a grinning Hope's head.

"Hope's right. While I'm fixing Hera's crown, you can look through your bins of clothes and find something. Hell, I'll even make you your own crown to match."

"I'm sorry, Veronica, but I'm not dressing up."

Klaus sighed, the reflection of someone's windows showing his crown and king's outfit.

He was holding Hugo, who was dressed up as a lion, and watching as Veronica held hands with Hera and walked the steps of a house.

Hope and Henrik wanted to go off on their own, which made Klaus hesitant at first, but Veronica shooed them off before he could have a say.

While he hated the predicament he was in, his heart couldn't help but feel warmth as he watched Veronica smile down at their daughter.

He's always loved her, but watching her be a mother to their four children made him fall in love even more.

He won't lie, sometimes he reminisces on the days where he was on his own and would do whatever he wanted. But seeing Veronica love their kids with every piece of her heart and soul made the thoughts go away as quickly as they came.

It was hard to believe that after a thousand years Klaus Mikaelson had his happy ending. A wife he adored, children he loved.

Sure, he's not too thrilled to be dressed up and standing outside listening to kids scream in excitement over candy, but it's a pleasant turn of events from how he thought his immortal life would play out.

Hours later, Veronica laid snuggled against her husband on the couch.

Klaus was grinning, telling his wife one of his many stories from hundreds of years ago.

The two were snacking on candy from their kids baskets, the fire blazing in front of them. Maybe they should feel bad about stealing the candy, but who can say no to Snickers?

Veronica laughed at a remark Klaus made, but the original was no longer smiling at the story. Instead, he was staring at the beautiful smile that caused his heart to burst every time he saw those lips. The same lips he's had the honor of kissing hundreds of times.

It might've been his least favorite holiday, but being with his family made him content, and he could deal with it as long as he had them.

A surprise chapter because I missed them far too much!!! I love writing these short one shots of them,, would anyone read if I made a new book containing random scenes of Kleronica and their family?!?!

Speaking of... in this chapter (incase you forgot their ages and don't feel like doing the math), Hope is 16, Henrik is 13, Hera is 9, and Hugo is 3!

Hope everyone has a safe and fun Halloween! Muahhh
