Yawning, I let my head drop down on my crossed arms and listened hardly to the words of the female teacher who wrote something on the blackboard and explained something in addition to that.

Cassian sat – just like every day – right next to me and looked just as exhausted as I was.

We had a test in the first two periods and I only got to know about that yesterday. And because of that I had my nose in my books the whole night – I couldn't let my grades drop in any way because of the job I wanted to have – and was fucking tired.

I was one of those humans that needed exact numbers of hours of sleep to not be a shriveled grape the next day. Just like Toby and Fynn said to each other: I need my beauty sleep.

Cassian's reason for being tired was unknown to me but I could still hear him yawn now and then.

Genevieve got the flu and now laid in bed throwing up and because of that my mom cared for her or to say it in a better way she pampered her. My mother was a real plague in those times, you wished her more away from your side than the sickness itself. She was a little overprotective.

Emi moved to Enzo for the time being to not get sick too and he welcomed her with open arms.

And I too held a distance between Genevieve and my body – I didn't want to risk getting sick again. It wouldn't be as bad as in the past, but I still got sick pretty often and just didn't want to risk it by provoking my immune system.

»You are allowed to go now,« the teacher, I didn't know the name of, said after the bell rang and woke me from my half sleep.

Blinking I lifted my head up and grabbed my back and threw it over my shoulder while yawning again.

»You seriously share damn much,« Cameron said and made me look at him in confusion.

»Excuse me?« I grumbled and furrowed my brows.

»You, Kyran, are tired because you studied the whole night. And Cassian looks just as tired,« the blond explained and switched looks with his storm gray eyes between the brown-haired and I.

His words made me look to Cassian again who returned my look until he met Cameron's eyes.

»Couldn't sleep tonight.«

»You two really have a strong mate-bond,« Lucien said – he stood next to the brown-haired Gamma who talked to Leandra.

Naika leaned against Toby who talked to Fynn or flirted with him. Sean and Zack watched the other students in silence. And Cal, Enzo and Emi just stayed quiet and listened to the others talking or were annoyed because of the flirting.

I didn't know where Chat was but probably on the toilet and he stole himself quietly away. Since Cassian knew of him being a hunter he kept an eye on him at all times.

»Strong bond?« I repeated and tilted my head. I was just too exhausted to understand his words.

»Well, I guess Cassian stayed awake because he somehow could feel that you were awake. And he probably was unknowingly restless and with that thought you could say you have a strong bond. If one of you stays awake, only if it's for studying, the other automatically stays awake too because he feels that his mate isn't sleeping,« he explained and made me nod wary.

In some way it was nice to hear that my mate and I had a strong bond. But on the other side was that mate Cassian. And again, I asked myself why I was his mate and not some woman I didn't care about.

»That-« I started to say but got cut off. »Is uninteresting at the moment.«

Annoyed, I caught sight of Ethan who grinned brightly at me – his hair in a flashy purple.
