Side-Story: 4 - Alternative ending to be continued... - Part 4

Keith

Already two weeks had passed and some of the injuries had already healed. However, now I carried scars on my body. Not one giant scar at one exact place but smaller and bigger ones all over my body.

I still wasn't sure if they could turn into a potential danger. After all, they were scars of an Alpha marking. I wasn't a part of their pack and he shouldn't be able to punish me with something like that.

But there were still scars left. My father told me to give them some time and look if they fade away. He wasn't sure too how it would turn out.

If I was marked now with the certificate to get killed or if they would heal as well as they could and wouldn't affect me.

Inside the city weren't many wolves that would react to such scars but we couldn't be sure at all. And I loved to visit the swimming hall a few stations away from our home.

Though some of the injuries had healed, I still had difficulties walking and standing up. Maybe it was my heart and soul that were more injured than my body.

Sighing I sat up in my bed and touched my stomach that was still covered in bandages because of the deepest wounds of them all.

I had lost my phone on the way back or, if I remembered correctly, had left it in his apartment.

Did he have difficulties cleaning up after the mess we had left? Did he go back with his parents and brother? Were they still planning on attacking us?

Until now nothing happened. No signs of hunters or other things that could threaten us. I was glad. Maybe that was the last mercy I got from him.

I wasn't sure, but my naive instinct told me that he at least stopped his parents from hurting me and my family further. Although I had marked him without his consent. Maybe it was the last bit of kindness he could have given me after the nice time we had.

»You good, bud'?«, my father asked and came into my room.

»Yeah, just a bit tense around here.« My hand was still on my stomach and my father nodded in understanding.

»I called the place where your next performance would have been and told them you couldn't come.« He sat down on the ground, leaning against my bed and looked up to me. »Thanks«, I muttered.

Sometimes I got invited to some bars where I played music as a solo artist. When I had the time at hand I wrote my own songs and played the guitar. It wasn't like I was popular or even known to the people but when I played, they liked my music.

It would have been much better if I was part of a band but I never found people I could do that with. And with my family moving too often I could have never really been part of something like that.

Still, being solo on stage was cool too.

However, now with us still being on guard, I couldn't go out and be on stage. Mostly, I and with those injuries not at all too

»I think we can be sure now, that they won't send anyone after us«, he said calmly. Unsure, I looked down at him. »Really? What if they still-«

»We can handle them, Keith. We hurt nobody. It wouldn't be reasonable to hunt after us.«

»They could hold a grudge«, I whispered.

»I know you are scared. Not because of the hunters but because of meeting him by chance.«

I bit the inside of my mouth and suppressed the tears that wanted to come up immediately. »I'm not scared.«

The look inside my fathers eyes told me otherwise and I avoided looking at him.
