Part 7

Gracie's POV

"There's no way, I don't believe you!" I sit next to her on the couch. "No way...."

"Fine, let love decide your fate!"

I roll my eyes. "Go eat your breakfast, don't you have work today?"

"It's not called work if you love it. Call it a job, yes, I have a job to do today!" Julie gets up and dances. "I think today I will be giving tours to students."

"It's summer!"

"Summer camp, shawty!"

I raise my eyebrows at her. "You are one weird girl, that's why we're friends!"

Julie nods and picks up her car keys and sunglasses. "Totes."

Wow, I don't get a dramatic line for that!

Skip to 2:00...

I pat my heart a couple times to calm it down.

"Calm down, Gracie, it's just a job interview. You are a great cook, you will do amazing!" I tell myself as I walk to the house. "Even if you don't know what it's for, you'll do well!"

I wipe off my sweat and I check my smell. "Good, you got this!"

I ring the doorbell and stand there awkwardly.

Miss Lisa answers the door with a smile on her face. "You are here! Happy to see you again! So glad you can make it!" She grabs my hand and pulls me in.

"It was no trouble, really. I-I live next door." I follow her guide.

"Ah yes, you do! Please, make yourself comfortable!" She guides me to the couch, where I was sitting on yesterday. "So what's the interv-"

"YIXING, TAO! COME DOWN HERE!" Miss Lisa calls upstairs.

I gulp. Julie has got to be joking around about the maid thing, but I don't mind being a maid, it was actually one of my dream jobs.

When I was younger, I would always clean my brother's room for $1. I would also do chores happily for money.

Yixing and Tao come down. Tao smiles as soon as he sees me, but Yixing stops in his tracks with his mouth wide open.

"So nice to see you again." Tao greets me with a hug. I gladly hug back, happy to know he likes me. Yixing, on the other hand, is giving me a bad sign.

Miss Lisa goes up to him and smacks his back. "Where are your manners?"

Yixing comes back to his senses and smiles at me. "Hello, Gracie, n-nice to see you again."

I smile at him in return.

"So, what do you like to do on your free time?" Miss Lisa starts off.

"I love to learn new recipes or go out and try new restaurants or shops." I answer nervously.

"So you like to eat a lot?" Tao asks. Miss Lisa slaps his shoulder.

"Oh uh, yes I do tend to eat a lot, but I exercise to keep myself healthy." I notice Miss Lisa nodding her head at Yixing.

"I see. So, do you see yourself as a maid in the near future?" Miss Lisa changes the subject.

I raise my eyebrows. "Well, what do you mean by maid? Like cooking and cleaning for other people or...?"

"Actually exactly like that."

I nod. "I can see myself doing that. When I was younger, I was a miad for Halloween 4 years straight." I share. I mentally slap myself for being so foward.

"Awh, so cute!" Miss Lisa says and looks at Yixing and Tao. Tao smiles at me and Yixing just nods.

"That sounds great! I think we're done here!" Miss Lisa gets up and shakes my hand. Tao and Yixing do the same. "I think we can all say you are perfect for what I have in mind."

"I-I still don't know what you have in mind. You didn't tell me yet." I awkwardly say.

"You didn't tell her?" Yixing asks sounding surprised.

Miss Lisa shakes her head. "I didn't tell her a lot of stuff."

My eyes widen.

"I'm actually Lay's mother. You are actually here for a job of a maid for them. Since they can't keep up with all the cleaning and cooking by themselves, they need someone to help. I thought of you since you cook so well! You also live next door, so you are perfect for this job."

My mouth widens.

"If you don't want this job, it's perfectly fine." Yixing holds out his hands.

"Since you didn't know, it's fine." Tao nods.

"I-"

"But she's so perfect for this! She can clean and cook! Plus, she lives next door!" Miss Lisa goes on and on.

I don't know what I'm feeling. "Actually-"

"Mother, you can't just tell someone to go to an interview and not tell them what the interview is for." Yixing says.

"I'm fine with the job." I say quickly before anybody else cuts me off.
