Lay's POV

I shake my head and cover my face in secondhand embarrassment.

"What's that all about?" Gracie points to them walking away. "Yixing, what's going on?"

"Nothing that concerns you." I lie horribly.

"If you're going to lie, at least make it believable."

"I can't tell you yet." I stall.

"Just tell me before I interrupt them!" Gracie threatens.

"You wouldn't."

She grabs her purse and stands up.

I grab her wrist. "Ok, fine. Sit down and stay calm. I'll tell you, but you have to keep calm."

"I'm always calm, Yixing." She smiles and takes a sip of her drink.

"Well....Tao is proposing to Julie."

Gracie spits out her water IN THE MOST DRAMATIC WAY POSSIBLE!

"WHAT?!" Gracie yells.

Great, people are looking.

"Quiet down, princess, we can't get kicked out." I try to calm her.

She sits down but grabs my collar. "And you wait UNTIL NOW to tell me!?"

My eyes widen. "U-Uh, Gracie, honey...Tao and I wanted to play safe and not tell you. We didn't want you to ruin it."

She starts breathing heavily. "You- You're probably right."

"Hey, just calm down. We were going to talk to you about it before... But Tao got too in the moment to listen to me."

It was my fault, I guess.

"I can't believe this! Come on!" Gracie stands up and grabs my hand.

"What are you doing? The food's coming soon. We can't just-"

"Hey," The waiter from earlier stops at our table. "I apologize for this, but your food will be taking longer than expected. We are busy and you ordered 4 burgers, so it's going to take awhile."

"That's fine. We can wait." Gracie smiles at him. "Is it ok if we lea-"

"Gracie, no-"

"Is it ok if we leave for a bit." Gracie ignores me.

The waiter shrugs. "Yup, that's fine. Just be back within an hour."

"No problem." Gracie waves to him.

"Let's just be safe and stay here. You know, just in case the food gets done quickly." I plead.

"No, they shuck up on us when we had our first kiss. We have to be there to see this!" Gracie argues and tugs on my arm.

Major throwback

I look around and see people judging, so I give in.

"Finally! Hurry, I need to get this on a video." Gracie tugs on my hand and drags me outside.

"At least be quiet." I whisper to her.

I follow behind her and hear hushed talking behind the restaurant.

"They're behind the building." I whisper.

"Duh...great work sherlock." She responds and tiptoes faster.

I scoff.
