1 | The Quiet Between Us
The U.A. rooftop had become your secret place.
Not by rule, but by rhythm — a quiet pattern written between just the two of you.It always started the same way: the sun would sink low in the sky, bathing everything in gold and pink. A soft breeze would carry the scent of sakura and fresh-cut grass. And Shoto Todoroki would already be there, standing with his hands in his pockets, looking out over the world like he didn't know how to be part of it yet.
He was breathtaking. Not just because of his looks — though yes, that white and crimson hair, those two-colored eyes, and that serious, god-carved face didn't help your poor heart — but because of the way he carried silence.
He didn't use words often. But when he did, they were like falling snow: gentle, rare, and always landing where they mattered most.
You walked up beside him. He didn't flinch, didn't look surprised. He always knew when it was you.
"Hey," you said, soft as the breeze.
"Hey," he replied, glancing at you. A flicker of warmth touched his expression — that rare half-smile he only ever gave to you. "You're late."
You laughed, elbowing him lightly. "You say that every time."
He looked away, murmuring, "That's because I always get here too early."
And there it was — the quietest way he admitted: I was waiting for you.
2 | The Moments You Didn't Know Were Love
You didn't fall for Todoroki all at once.
It wasn't a fireworks kind of thing. It wasn't lightning or confetti or movie soundtrack highs.
It was gentle. Steady. Real.
You fell for him in the way he offered you the best seat in the common room without a word.
The way he handed you your favorite tea before you even asked.
The way he stood between you and a villain during training without hesitation, even if he got scolded for breaking formation. You fell for him when he looked at you like you mattered.
Like you were safe.
Like he couldn't quite name what you meant to him yet — but that it meant everything. And somewhere along the way... he started falling too.
3 | The Confession
"I want to show you something," he said one day.
It was unexpected. So was the way he said it — not unsure, but purposeful. Like he'd been holding it in for days.
You nodded, and he led you to the greenhouse behind the dorms. It was empty, filled only with faint light from the sunset and the distant hum of warmth from the soil beds.
You followed him to a small corner. And there, nestled in a clay pot, was a blooming camellia. Vibrant red. The same color as the left side of his hair.
You turned to him, confused but curious. "Shoto?"
"I grew it for you."
Your breath caught.
He looked away quickly. "I... I read that in the language of flowers, camellias mean 'I love you.' Especially the red ones. They're rare in winter. Like you."
You blinked, trying to steady your heartbeat, your voice, your everything.
Todoroki stepped closer. His voice dropped to a whisper. "I didn't know how to say it. So I grew it instead."
You reached out and touched the petal with shaking fingers. It was soft, warm. Alive.
Just like your heart.
When you looked back up, he was watching you with those two-colored eyes — filled with fear, hope, and something unbelievably soft.
"Y/n," he said, your name a vow on his lips. "I don't know what love is supposed to look like. I didn't have it growing up. But with you... it's quiet. And safe. And I think about you more than I should."
You stepped closer. "That's what love feels like to me too."
"I want to be someone who learns how to love... properly," he said. "And I want to learn with you."
You didn't respond with words.
You cupped his face gently, thumb brushing the faint scar that never made him any less beautiful, and pressed your lips to his.
It was slow. Soft. Careful.
But he kissed you like it was the only thing he knew how to do in that moment.
4 | Afterglow
He held your hand all the way back to the dorms.
He didn't say much. He didn't have to.
When he dropped you off at your door, he paused and leaned against the frame.
"I'm bad at being romantic," he confessed.
You smiled, brushing a stray piece of hair from his face. "You gave me a flower that means 'I love you.' I think you're doing pretty well."
"...Can I keep trying?"
You kissed his cheek. "You're already everything I wanted."
He didn't smile often. But this time, he did — fully, sweetly, beautifully.
That night, you found a note in your desk drawer.
"Thank you for waiting for me to catch up.
I'm yours now. And I'll try to make sure you never regret it.
– Shoto"
A week later, Todoroki showed up at your door with two mugs of warm tea.
"I asked Fuyumi what couples do on cozy evenings," he explained, awkwardly. "She said tea and cuddling."
You raised a brow. "You want to cuddle?"
He looked away, ears pink. "I want to do everything with you."
So you pulled him in, and held him close, and for the first time in his life, Shoto Todoroki knew exactly what warmth meant.
