OH OH BTW BEFORE EVERYONE READS... Instead of making this story 638262916272 chapters long, I will be creating a part 2 of this book really soon. So if you've requested, you will most likely get your one shot on the second book, okay? I'll tell you guys when that's up (:

-Leiyah's POV-

"Aye, there she goes! Ugly as ever!"a guy hollered as I walked by him in the hallways. His group of friends started laughing.

I know which group this is... Brandon's friends. Brandon Ingram is the most popular guy in school and his friends are all assholes. This is why I hate school.

I tried to ignore them, but one pushed me. "Did you not hear what I said?"the guy shouted. I just stood there, shocked.

All the guys laughed. "Look, she can't even talk. How pathetic. Ugly ass,"a guy said, his friends backing him up.

A tear rolled down my eye. "Aw, is she crying now?"one of the guys teased, pushing me into the lockers.

"Aye, what's going on here?"a voice bellowed.

I looked up and saw Brandon Ingram. "Hey, leave her alone! What're you guys doing?"he shouted, pushing one of his friends.

"Man, this ain't cool,"his friend said.

Brandon glared at him. "You just hit a woman. You should be ashamed,"he said. Brandon locked eyes with mine but I quickly looked down. "Come with me,"he said, holding out his hand.

I slowly took his hand, scared that he was just joking around. But Brandon just led me away from his friends.

"You okay?"he asked me as we walked down the hallway. I looked up at him and slightly nodded before letting go of Brandon's hand. "Thank you,"I whispered.

"No problem. Your name's Leiyah, right?" I nodded once again, surprised he knew my name. "Yeah,"I quietly said.

Brandon stopped in the hallway and said,"You don't have to be scared to talk to me. I'm sorry for my friends. If anything happens again, tell me, okay?" I just nodded slowly.

Why is Brandon being so nice to me? He's never really talked to me before...

"Hey, I gotta get to class. But I'll check up on you later, alright?"he asked. I just replied,"Okay." Brandon gave me a smile before walking away.

I walked to my next class, and I couldn't help but smile. Brandon's actually a nice guy. That's refreshing to see.

At the end of the school day, I saw Brandon looking around for someone outside. As I walked through the doors, Brandon saw me and walked over to me. His tall structure shielded me from the sunshine.

"Hey Leiyah,"he grinned. I gave him a small smile. "Hi Brandon,"I mumbled.

"How was your day?"he asked. I just shrugged. "Not much of a talker..."he observed. I nodded in response, looking around.

Brandon took a deep breath. "Do you want to hang out with me tomorrow? We can go out for lunch, since we won't have school,"he offered.

I replied quietly,"I'd love to, but I'm busy. Sorry."

"That's all good. At least you talked,"he chuckled. I couldn't help but smile. "I have to go,"I said.

Brandon responded,"Alright, I'll see you tomorrow."

-One Week Later-

Brandon has been so sweet to me the past week. I feel like opening up to him more and more each day. Every day he checks up on me and takes me to class. It's super cute, and he's not bad looking himself...

"Aye Leiyah! Wait up!"

I turned around and saw Brandon jogging over to me. "Hi,"I giggled.

"You look beautiful today,"he complimented, making me blush. "Thank you,"I replied.

"What class you got first? I'll walk you,"Brandon said. "Chemistry,"I answered.

Brandon walked with me to my chemistry class, making me smile and laugh the whole way there. Even though I still hadn't opened up to him completely, I still felt comfortable around him.

After school, Brandon asked me if I wanted to go over to his house. I didn't have anything better to do, so I went with him.

As we walked into his house, his mom greeted us. "Hey baby,"she said to Brandon with a smile.

She looked at me and added,"Hi, I'm Joann. You must be Leiyah."

I looked at Brandon with my eyebrows raised.

"I might have mentioned you once or twice,"he nervously chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. I laughed and looked back at his mom. "Nice to meet you, Mrs. Ingram,"I smiled.

"Let's go up to my room,"Brandon said, grabbing my hand. "Be good you two! I'll bring you some food soon,"Mrs. Ingram said before Brandon dragged me upstairs to his room.

I looked around his room at all the basketball posters. "You really like basketball, huh?"I inquired.

Brandon chuckled. "Yeah, my goal's to make it to the NBA."

"I'm sure you can do it,"I assured, sitting on his bed.

Out of nowhere, Brandon said,"I can see you opening up to me, Leiyah. I really like that."

I couldn't help but smile. "I don't know... You just make me wanna talk. Like you're so sweet and kind. I've never really had friends before, so I'm just used to not talking,"I sighed.

Brandon nodded. "I understand. But you got me now, okay? I'll protect you and talk to you and be your pal."

I let out a little giggle. "Okay, Ingram."

"We're officially best friends now,"Brandon announced, making me laugh.

"Whatever you say, Brandon."
