You watch in silence as Leo works on God knows what. He's trying to lighten the mood with his jokes, but you aren't changing your expression.
"C'mon, babe. I'm the Super-sized McShizzle! You gotta laugh."
"I'm not laughing, Leo."
"C'mon, Y/N. Throw me a bone."
"Come sit down."
"I'm working."
"No, you're avoiding. Get over here, Leo."
He comes and sits beside you, throwing his arm around your shoulders. "What's up?" He asks.
"You know what's up."
"That's right I do." He grins, winking, doing finger guns.
"Leo."
"Sorry." He smile drops immediately.
"I want you to talk to me." You turn and look at him.
"I've been talking to you."
"I don't want to hear your jokes. I want to hear what's wrong."
"Nothing's wrong, babe. I'm fantastic."
"Bull."
"No. That's Taurus. Leo's a--"
"You had a full on mental breakdown, Leo. You can't expect us not to talk about it."
"I don't make you talk when you breakdown."
"You know what's wrong with me. I don't know what's wrong with you."
He leans forward, and you lean back, eyes wide. "Reaching for the hammer." He says in explanation, reaching behind you.
"That's a wrench." You say.
"Isn't that what I said?"
"You said hammer."
"Did I? I meant wrench."
"Yeah, okay." You agree. "So, tell me. Why don't you wanna go out there with everybody else?"
"Because I'm here, obviously."
"Why don't you want to be out there?"
"I'm more comfortable in here."
"Your friends are out there."
"You aren't."
"Because I'm here with you. Why don't you wanna go out there with everyone?"
"Do you really think they've even noticed I'm not there?"
"Of course they do. It isn't the same. You know what you tell me when I say that?"
"That they can't possibly not miss your intelligence and beauty?"
"You've never put those words in there."
"Oops." He glanced away.
"Well, anyway. The same applies to you."
"Of course. I'm some hot stuff."
You give him a look.
"I'm more comfortable with just you. I don't have to pretend."
"But you do it anyway."
He nods. "Yeah. Yeah, I guess I do."
"So stop."
"You won't like it."
"Sure I will."
"The way you looked at me when I tried to kiss you..."
"I just... wasn't expecting it."
"So, you're saying that if I warned you..."
"Yes."
"Wait, really?"
"Yeah."
"I'm gonna kiss you." He says.
"Okay."
He gives you a quick peck on the lips and pulls away, and you laugh a little. "What?" He demands.
"I just expected more."
"I was being a gentleman, duh!"
"My bad." You smile.
"All right, let's get this show on the road." He stands up to go back to work.
"We weren't done, Leo." You stand too.
He comes back and stands before you, his hands in his pockets. "Yeah?"
"Talk to me."
"I just... I don't fit in with everyone else. I'm painfully aware of it. In here, with you... I actually feel like I belong." He drops his gaze.
"You do, Leo. You belong out there too."
"No I don't."
"I'm still out there with you."
"I don't wanna complain." He shrugs and turns around.
You grab his arm and pull him back. "No. Tell."
"You're so busy once we leave here. I don't wanna get in your way."
"You wouldn't be in my way."
"Yeah, but I'm an attention hog. I like being alone with you more."
You don't say anything for a while. "So, what was your breakdown about?" You ask finally.
"Everything."
"Wanna talk about any of it?"
"Just... that quest we went on. It was... something else. I was, you know, the seventh wheel. It was... you know..."
"Lonely?"
He nods.
"Well, you're not lonely now." You peck his cheek.
He wraps his arms around your waist, his chin on your head. "It's good to be home."
