When the movers opened the back of the truck, you and Peter hid behind a stack of boxes. He held your hand and you tried not to laugh as they questioned the candy wrappers that were on the couch. He held a finger to his lips and struggled not to burst out laughing, too.

When they were distracted, you and Peter flew out of the back of the truck and hurried to the highway. He held you against his side again as he webbed himself to a truck and did the exact same thing.

This time, landing in the back of the truck, there weren't couches. The temperature was below freezing. You folded your arms and turned to look at him as he shut the back.

"What kind of truck is this?" you asked.

"Uh, yikes. I think they're transporting frozen pizza," he said. He shivered. "Uh, sorry."

"It's fine," you said. Your teeth were starting to chatter.

"Uh... I got an idea. C'mere." He took your arm and pulled you to a stack of boxes. You sat on them with him and he wrapped an arm around you. "Karen, turn on the heater."

Suddenly, the entirety of Peter's suit warmed. You sighed with relief, shivering a couple more times as the air around you both grew several degrees warmer.

"That's much better," you said.

"Yeah? Awesome," he said. He kicked his feet for a few quiet moments while you laid your head in his shoulder, eyes closed. "Hey. You asleep?"

"No."

"Okay. You know what we are doing is crazy, don't you?" he asked.

Your eyes peeled open and you turned your head, giving him a look. "Hm?"

"You ran away from home," he said, "with me."

"I'll go back," you argued. You laid your head back. "Plus you saw this in a movie."

"You did it before you knew about the movie though," he reminded you.

You frowned. It seemed crazy, but you couldn't remember what life was like before you had met Peter Parker. It felt like he belonged here, with you.

"I guess... I guess I just trusted you. I knew you would be the one to help me start my life," you said.

"You trusted me," he repeated.

"Yeah," you said.

"Awesome," he said. His fingers touched your shoulder for a second before dangling off. "I trust you too, Punzie."

You reached up with your right hand, crossing it over your chest, and slid your fingers into his. You weren't sure why you did it. It just felt right.

He sighed, making you wonder if he felt how right it was, too.

You shut your eyes. Somehow you just knew he was smiling at you, and that made you smile too as you slowly fell asleep.

...

In D.C., a few hours later, you and Peter stood in front of an ordinary gift shop, hiding out of sight. He was pulling cash out of his backpack.

"Okay, just buy me a t-shirt and a pair of sweats," he said. You were trying not to laugh at him. He was so desperate to go to a restaurant and eat real food but didn't want to go as Spider-Man.

"You should have brought your own clothes," you told him.

"Shut up, I left them in the alley."

You clamped your lips shut as you snickered.

"I said shut up!" he hissed, but he wasn't mean. He was trying not to laugh as well.

You went into the shop alone and picked out a grey t-shirt that said WASHINGTON D.C., a pair of flip flops, and a pair of black sweats. You didn't notice until you had checked out that it said WASHINGTON across the butt of them. It only made you all the more excited to give them to him.

You gave them to him outside. "Great, thank you," he said, sounding relieved. He admired the clothes until he saw the sweats. "Are you- you just had to get these, didn't you?"

You burst out into laughter. "I'm sorry. I didn't know until I had bought them, I swear."

"Uh-huh," he said. "You're such a liar." He made sure he was out of view and smacked the emblem on his suit. It fell off of him like a layer of skin.

You looked away. "I swear, Pete-"

"I can't believe you did this to me," he said. "Me, your only friend."

You looked back, seeing him in normal clothes for the first time. His suit was folded in a perfect little cube. He tucked it into his bag. He stood up, putting the bag on his shoulders, and stepped into the flip flops.

"I look like such an idiot," he said.

"You look like you are a really big fan of D.C.," you said. You grinned at him.

He rolled his eyes and held out his hand. You took it, feeling your cheeks get warm.

You weren't sure when you had started to feel a like this around Peter, but it was slowly consuming you. It replaced all other feelings. It was just you and him, holding hands and walking towards a chain of restaurants.

You and him, hand in hand, checking out the museums and monuments.

You and him, hand in hand, as he told you he wasn't going to look at the Washington Monument because of that time he and his friends nearly died in there.

You and him, sipping on ice cold lemonades by beautiful fountains.

You and him, hand in hand, as he pulled you out and spun you, laughing as you danced clumsily with him to distant music from a concert.

You and him, eating hot dogs in the grass.

You and him, leaning side by side as you watched the sun set on your second day.

You and him, wondering how either of you had lived a single day without the other.

You and him, never wanting your adventure to end.
