like i posted on my profile earlier, i don't have to write boy x boy or girl x girl for you just because you think i should, and not writing it doesn't make me a bad person. i'm not inclined to write things for you. stop guilt tripping me because the thing is: i don't care if you want it. i'm not going to write it, so leave me alone about it. i'm not being mean, i'm just tired of this.

"Hey, ___?" You turned, feeling a hand on your arm. It was Peter. He gave you a shy smile and leaned in close to you. His voice dropped to a whisper. "Everything okay? You... you kinda lost it back there."

"Oh, yeah," you said, tucking a lock of hair behind your ear. "That was sort of embarrassing."

"No, no, don't be embarrassed," he said. "I have no idea what you saw. I bet it was scary."

"It was," you said. "It was... a lot." You discovered you couldn't look Peter in the eye. You kept seeing his face as he-

"Anyway," he stopped walking and grabbed your hand. You looked down at it, shocked, and felt him press his thumb against your palm, giving your hand a light squeeze. "You would tell me, right?"

"Tell you what?" you asked. It was a little hard to concentrate because he wasn't letting go of your hand, and you really didn't want him to.

"Tell me if I... if I didn't make it. You'd tell me, right?"

You felt your blood go cold. You tried to pull your hand away, shaking your head. "I-I don't think I can talk about the future, I'm sorry-"

"No, I know," he said. He dropped his head and let go of your hand. "Sorry. I... sorry."

"But I promise you that we will be picking the outcome where we win," you told him. "We know how to get to it and w-we will. And what ends up happening... that's the right way."

He stared at you and smiled slowly. "I trust you," he said. "And I trust your dad. I trust him 'cause he's a wizard and crazy awesome. I trust you 'cause... well, you're you. You're a wizard plus you promised that you'd get me home." He laughed and scratched the back of his head. "That makes me seem like I'm totally weak. Okay, I just trust you because you're a great person."

"Thanks, Peter," you said. You hated yourself. You just wanted to warn him. But he smiled sweetly and turned away, leaving you alone. You cast your eyes to the floor before squeezing them shut. You just didn't want this anymore.

Your dad walked up to you and put a hand on your shoulder. "Are you feeling okay?" he asked. "You're still shaking."

"I promised him I'd get him home, Dad," you whispered.

"You will," he said.

"But not until after he-" You cut yourself off. You felt sick to your stomach. "I don't want him to go through that."

"I know you don't, but it has to happen."

"Dad... I don't think I can do this," you said. You turned towards him and looked up. "I'll be all alone after you're both gone. I can't lose you. You're all I have left in my life now-"

"Hey, hey, stop," he said. He leaned down and pressed his lips gently to the center of your forehead. He pulled away and wiped at the tears on your cheeks. "You can't worry about it now. Take everything one moment at a time. Thanos is coming in a few minutes."

You nodded and swallowed the rest of your tears down. Your dad was right; there was no room for worry. There was a lot that had to happen before you were alone. You didn't have time to cope with it, no, but it wasn't time to grieve just yet. You could hold off until it happened. You had no choice but to hold off until it all was done and gone.

"Okay, okay, focus," you breathed. Your dad took a deep breath in and out with you. He grabbed your hands and squeezed them encouragingly, smiled, and kissed your head again. "Whose plan are we going with? Tony's or Quill's? Neither of them were really good so I kinda, like, forgot..."

He snorted. "Quill's. I'll be sitting over there when Thanos arrives. You'll be ducked down on the top of the ship with Peter. Follow his lead, okay-"

"Why can't I follow my own lead?" you asked.

He smiled. "Follow your own lead, then," he said. "I just want you to be safe. You can't follow what I'm doing, and you're still learning, so I just want you to be comfortable-"

You sighed. "I have to learn to do things on my own from now on."

"Yes you do."

"Do you think I can do it, Dad?" you asked. "Do you think I can be fine on my own until we get you back?"

"Yes," he said. "But you can't tell Tony how it happens. You can't give anyone hints. They have to do it on their own. It'll take time, I know, and you'll have hard days. But you can do it. I know you can do this."

You pressed your lips together and nodded.

"Get ready," he said.

You nodded and let him hug you quickly. You turned and saw Peter standing there.

"I thought I'd wait for you," he said. He still sounded nervous. "Are you ready?"

"I guess," you said.

"It'll be cool. I kinda have a plan, too. You wanna hear it? It'll work out great with your magic and my killer backflips-"

"Peter, I-" He stopped talking at once, his eyebrows pulling together. "I-I just want to tell you that I'm glad I met you."

"Aw, that's nice," he said. He paled. "Wait, you're not saying this because I'm going to die, are you-?"

"No, no," you said fast, "I'm not... I just - I'm scared. I've never... I've never fought anyone before. This is really new and I just - I'm glad I met you, because we're the same age but you're much braver than I am, and I don't know. It gives me hope."

"Oh. Wow," he said. "I'm... I'm glad I met you too. You're... I mean, you're..."

"Hey!" hissed Tony. "We don't have time for romantic spiels!"

"It's not... it's not romantic," you said.

"Well," Peter said, "mine might be... a little."

You looked at him fast. His cheeks were pink and he smirked. Your smile grew and you took his hand. Together, you both got on top of the ship.

And you really just wanted to tell him what was about to happen.
