this is up a day later than planned but i have been sooo busy. i have basically 4 days left and i'm feeling beyond overwhelmed because it'll be my first time on a plane. i'm not afraid or anything but i haven't even seen the inside of an airport before so like... lol

"So let's talk about this plan of yours," Peter Quill said. Everyone grouped together.

You were outside of the ship; on the planet called Titan now. It was the home of Thanos - before it was destroyed. It was now a wasteland.

"I think it's good except it sucks," he continued, "so why don't we let me come up with the plan, so that way it'll be really good."

Tony looked at the ground. "Wow," he said, looking like he was at a loss for words. "Okay then."

"What makes you think your plan is so brilliant, space boy?" you asked, crossing your arms.

Drax, the big one, pointed at Quill. "I'll have you know that he singlehandedly defeated Ronan using a brilliant technique. A dance off."

You raised your eyebrows. "A dance off?"

"Yes."

"What dance off?" Peter asked from beside you. You looked up and bit your lip, trying to hide your laughter. He snickered though, glancing at you to be sure that you found it as funny as he did. "Like in Footloose?"

Quill dropped his embarrassed look and gasped. "Yes! Holy crap, is it still the greatest movie in the world?"

"It... never was."

You burst into laughter, holding your hand against your mouth. Quill clamped his lips shut and Peter beamed at you.

"Okay, let's get to the task at hand, which is talking through my plan," Tony said, pointing to his chest.

"My plan is better," Quill muttered.

Tony ignored this. "Because if all we come out with is a plucky attitude..."

"Dude, don't call us plucky. We don't know what it means."

To be honest, you didn't really remember every part of Tony's plan. It was really long and complicated with a huge chance of failure, but this was a difficult mission, so you weren't expecting perfection.

But your dad would be.

Maybe that was why your dad had disappeared. You started to turn, looking for him-

"Uh, is your friend supposed to be doing that?"

Tony blurted out, "Doc? You okay?"

You pushed through both Peters and ran to the rock your dad was sitting on. You knelt in front of him and placed your hands on his arms.

"Dad," you said. His head was twitching and flinching, moving so fast that he was a blur. You didn't know how to see what he was seeing. "Can you hear me?"

"Whoa, is your dad okay?" Peter asked. He was standing behind you.

"Yeah," you said, "I think he's fine. He's just-"

Suddenly he broke out of his trance. The flinching stopped and he fell forward, catching himself on your. Your eyes widened in alarm and you sat him back.

"Dad?" you asked, "What the heck was that? Are you alright?"

"I went forward in time. To view alternate futures. To see all possible outcomes," he breathed. His eyes shifted from left to right, his eyebrows furrowed, and a wrinkle creased his forehead.

You grew very worried.

"How many did you see?" Quill asked, voice serious.

"Fourteen million, six hundred and five," he said.

"How many where we win?" Tony asked.

You knew the answer before it slipped out of his lips. It filled you with the worst feeling ever. You gripped his arms a little harder and he just stared at you, his lips hardly moving.

"One," he answered.

"Jeez," Peter breathed. He looked at you.

"Dad," you whispered, "you saw how it has to play out, right?" He nodded. "Can you show me?"

He began to shake his head. "I don't..."

"Dad," you said, voice soft still, "please, just let me see. Let me see what I have to do."

He stared at you for a long moment, then nodded. He lifted the easy spell to keep it on him and then pulled the chain off and over his head. He draped it over your shoulders, the weight heavy and foreign on you.

"Like I taught you," he said, dropping his hands.

You sat down on the rock next to him. You felt nervous, knowing all eyes were on you. Closing your eyes and taking a deep breath, you raised your hands. You folded your fingers the way you needed to. You opened the Eye.

And instead of moving back time, you watched a flash of outcomes.

In some, you were tortured. Peter was tortured. The Guardians were crushed. You and your dad were tortured together, Tony was murdered, Peter was alone and trapped in space. Everyone died.

But in the one where you all won-

You saw Gamora - Thanos's daughter and Quill's girlfriend - get thrown off a cliff. You saw him obtain the Soul Stone. You saw him come to Titan. You saw Quill discover Gamora was dead and mess up. Thanos broke free. Your father traded the Time Stone for Tony Stark's life. Thanos went to Wakanda and got all of the stones he needed.

Then he snapped his fingers.

Half of the population was wiped out. Your dad. The Guardians. And finally, Peter, falling into your arms, saying such horrible things-

That was the only way.

The only way you could win was by doing absolutely nothing.

You broke out of it. Your dad caught you in his arms and shushed you. You then realized that you were having a very loud panic attack. You wrapped your arms around his neck.

"Dad, Dad, I can't, I can't-"

"Shhh," he said, stroking your hair. "It's okay. It'll be okay."

"You're going to die," you sobbed.

"No, not die," he said. "I will be okay."

"I can't watch him die, Dad," you added. You squeezed your eyes shut. "I - I can't. I can't do this."

"You can," he said. "You're doing so great. I have all of my faith in you. You'll do all the right things."

By the right things, he meant do absolutely nothing and wait. And that nearly killed you, because you knew that it was only a matter of hours before you were all alone.
