The Broadcast

JAYNE POV

All three of us stepped into the elevator heading to the top floor Connor rolled his coin over the top of his fingers before Hank snatched it off him
"cut it out!" he said shoving the coin in his pocket.

"I'm sorry lieutenant" Connor said adjusting himself I let out a small chuckle. Hank was only irrated because no matter how many times Connor showed us the trick, we where no where near achieving it

Officer Chris was there to meet us we reached the top. We walked down the corridor thankfully no one was hurt.
"by the way the feds are here, there waiting in broadcast room"

Hank groaned "great just what we need"
We reached the Broadcast cast room Chris introduced Hank

"who are you?" he said looking between me and Connor.

"my name is Connor, I'm the android sent by Cyber life"

"I'm Jayne, I, erm work in IT" I said blushing. He huffed

" just don't fuck up my crime scene" he said leaving before any of us could say a word.

"prick" Hank mumbled.

I looked at the security tape I watched as thw four androids entered the building they were dressed as service androids but I recognised them from somewhere. And then it clicked. Markus. What was he doing?  

Connor joined me watching the tape.

"they didn't break in?" he asked

"no they where dressed as service androids the guards thought they were there for maintenance"

"they must have had someone on the inside" Connor said turning the chair.

"we put the androids In the kitchen we didn't know what to do with them"

Connor pressed a button on the desk making the Broadcast play. I listened in disbelief, oh Markus what have you started. I thought

"I have identified the deviants model number" Connor stated watching the video. My heart stopped I couldnt bare to think what would happen if Connor found Markus. If he completed his mission he would be sent away. I cant lose him. i just cant. I continued to watch the video, still un able to speak. these people deserve to be free, they are alive. 

"well it looks like they are being peacfully for now." Hank Said joining me and Connor. 

"All they want is to be free, It makes me wonder if we are on the wrong side here" I said more to myself than anyone else. I felt Connors eyes on me, questioning me. I wanted to tell him, but how. How can i tell him iv been fixing deviants? It would crush him. 

"are you alright Jayne?" Connor asked placing his hand on my arm

"I'm fine" I lied. "we should go and question the androids" Connor nodded. Placing a kiss on my cheek while no one was looking

Connor had been interrogating the androids for a while it was impossible to tell which one was deviant. I could see Connors frustration building. He pulled out an androids thorium pump. In an attempt to get it to talk

"Connor stop" I said horrified

"one of these androids is deviant. I must find who it is" I snatched the pump from his hand.

"I Dont care, your going to kill him" I yelled shoving the pump, i pushed Connor away from the androids.

"you need to calm down OK" I said trying to soothe him. He looked at me and smiled down at me. suddenly something caught his attention. He shoved me to the ground.

Bang.
Bang.

Panic rising in my chest I reached for my gun. It was gone. My ears ringing from the noise. I look around.

Deviant dead.

"Connor!" I shouted but it sounded muffled. I stared at Connors feet it was like my heart had been ripped out. I felt hank beside me he was talking but I couldn't hear. I crawled toward Connor, Hank pulling me back  I shook him off I can fix him please god no.I can fix him! Please tell me I can fix him.

Blood osed from the bullet hole in Connors head. I cradled his lifeless body all sound returning to my ears.

"Jayne, its OK Kiddo" I felt the tears fall from my face but no sound came from my mouth. It was like all of my entire soul had been sucked out
I couldn't speak only silent tears flowed down my face. What had I done
....
Hank had brought me to his house. He said I could stay with him. Connor is dead.
but he isn't.

"he won't remember me will he?" I said quietly to Hank as he placed a cup of hot tea in front of me.

"its very likely"

I placed my head in my hands. How can I go on if he doesn't remember me? How do I even act around him now? Iv lost him forever. It was all my fault.

"this is my fault I shouldn't have turned my back." I began to cry

Hank joined me on the sofa putting his arm around me

"its not your fault. Do not blame yourself. Connor will be back in a few days like nothing happened"

I felt an anger in my chest. This isn't fair.

"he won't be the same! He won't love me Hank.!" I yelled jumping up from sofa

"we brought him back once we can do it again" Hank said trying to calm me
It didn't work.

"WHAT'S THE FUCKING POINT!" I screamed shaking my head as Hank pulled me into a hug.

"why do we always lose everyone" I said quietly

"I don't know, Jaynie. I just don't know"
