He's never seeing his parents again he can't save them or protect them, he's made peace with this, only because he wouldn't be able to survive in Georgia if he didn't. Hamza's trying to find his new family but it's not what he thinks it is -- all three of them plus their team leader are dead -- and now his only connection to them is some vet who left him for dead to save the last living man on the planet with a mullet. At this point he doesn't even know if he wants to go find them, but when he hears the message on the radio he figures he might as well follow the tracks and give them one last chance. And now that he's kneeling over a trough, he definitely doesn't want to find them again
Hamza's got a whole other family now, a new team leader he respects, friends who go on him just like his old comrades and a partner to run point with who's not only perfect but she's been through even more shit than him and still cheesing when he tells his atrocious jokes. He finally talks out loud about his parents back home when they're sitting in some high rise in Atlanta, and her eyes cutting to the bone's the only response he ever needed. And after Bob and Tyreese, keeping watch with her over night so she's a little less suicidal during the day's all he ever wanted. As long as he's sniping back-to-back and staring front-to-front with Sasha it doesn't really matter who the next son of a bitch they have to fight to keep on surviving is
