Amiyah Scott as Luz Dawson
They made sure to make an example out of Jaime Dawson, life for embezzling and insider trading, and going from her father's full size Barbie Dream House to her grandparents' unit changed the direction her life was going in from the age of 12 on. But nothing changed too drastically, since she had her super power to read anybody since the first night her father came home wearing his poker face too hard. It was only a few years later when she failed one of the foster kids down the hall -- doing nothing with the evidence only she could see -- she knew she finally found the last puzzle piece to who she needed to be.
After making the most of what she was given from her childhood and compartmentalizing the worst of it, she's become a woman with walls nobody could hope to tear down, she doesn't keep personal attachments, she has sex when she needs something, she visits her family when she gets nostalgic, and she's a woman with 2 PhDs, one of the best child psychologists anybody could need, living for her cases and the children she connects with and figures out like they're basic algebra.
Her new case is a teenager nobody assigned; she drove by her and one glance at those dead eyes made her U-turn. Leticia claims she has somebody she can go to to help with the problem in her trunk, and Luz insists she calls to check in and meets her at the diner that night. And just like that she's got a possible murderer and former porn star, who likes to act like she's a sociopath, living under her roof. Whether it's family, a two-night stand, or one of her cases -- she can't remember the last time she was this close to somebody. But more dangerous than housing and getting attached to this illegitimate foster child, is the fully grown men Leti calls family in a skeptical tone who are more than happy to drop by and act familiar.
A LITTLE EXTRA : So this started out as a Zeke story, but it could really be either Reyes it's up to you
