Part 16 |SECRET|

Continuation. 1000, June. 

 

We stay sitting there, looking into the ocean until the sun disappears from the sky.

"We should be getting back before people start wondering where we are," I tell him getting up.

"Hmm, ok."

"Peter, would you mind if we didn't tell anyone about this just yet?"

"Why not? Do you not-" he asks with a disappointed look on his face

"It's not that! Well, it's just that this is all so new. There are things we need to figure out before this becomes public."

"Such as?" He asks, pushing for more information.

"We work together! We need to figure out how to keep work and politics separated from our feelings. We can't have our judgment clouded by how we feel towards each other. What if we have a fight? We can't have that intervene with our work." Also, I don't want people to think and say bad things about me, like that I'm only with him for political reasons.

"Ah, I see. You have a point there. I guess we do have to talk about some things and figure this all out before taking decisions and having people critique our choices."

"Precisely. And besides, I for one would like to have some privacy while figuring this all out. You've probably noticed how everyone is always watching at court, and no doubt gossiping about what goes on inside these walls." I add another explanation, "I know you're new to all this, but I've lived like this since forever, there is no such thing as privacy on a palace. At all. So let's just enjoy this while it lasts."

"Hmm... a secret relationship huh, ... so you'd be like my secret girlfriend?" He asks with a smirk.

"Only if you'll be my secret boyfriend," I tell him with a mischevious smile.

"Well, I like the sound of that. But only for a short while." He tells me, agreeing to my terms.

"Deal?" I tell him stretching my hand in front of his, he reaches to shake it, "Deal,"

"Ok, now we really should get going," I tell him and we start to walk back.
