SUSAN'S POV

I am sitting alone in the library waiting for Edmund and Peridan to arrive.

I have received a handful of proposes from princes and kings pursuing me and I am not certain on how to proceed. Right now I do not wish to accept any, but also I do not wish to refuse with a definitive no. At least not yet. Therefore I have asked Edmund and Peridan to come and help me decide what I should do. Mostly I am interested in Peridan's perspective on the matter at hand. He has more idea about these issues, at least more than Edmund does. He's courted several girls since he moved here and more before as I have heard Imira say.

He is the first to arrive. Punctual as ever.

"Queen Susan," he greets me with a smile.

"Lord Peridan, glad you could make it," I rise from my seat and walk up to him.

"Pardon my tardiness, your majesty, I ran into Princess Imira on my way here," he explains.

"Oh, but you are not tardy at all, my lord,"

"Just Peridan," he insists Lucy and I simply call him Peridan, foregoing the title, but since he won't call us simply by our names, we keep calling him Lord. Only Imira calls him Peridan, but she has known him for years and they were friends since Daxam.

"I'll call you Peridan when you forego the titles and just call me Susan," I offer, although I already know the answer.

"I am afraid I cannot do that, my Queen,"

"I know,"

"Shall we start?" he asks, changing the subject.

"As soon as my brother gets here,"

"In that case, we will be in here for quite some time. King Peter is not expected for at least a couple more days," he replies. Smartass.

"Not that brother," I say rolling my eyes at him. This just seems to amuse him.

"And here I thought your majesty had asked me alone too, wait, what is it I am here for?" he asks, realizing he has no clue on why he is here.

"I need your perspective on something," I tell him, revealing little.

"That is just as vague an answer and leaves me with nothing but more questions." He walks towards a table with refreshments. "Wine?" he asks holding up the jar.

"Yes, please," He hands me a cup and takes one himself.

"Susan! I am here! Now would you please explain why I'm here and not soundly asleep?" Edmund asks, well, more like shouts from the hallway until he enters.

Peridan puts his drink down and I turn around.

"Finally Ed, took you long enough," I tease him.
