EDMUND'S POV

March 20. One day before the Fest of Spring. Susan has asked Lucy and me to meet with her at her chambers before breakfast to help out with something.

The door is open, and as I enter I spot Susan and Lucy over at the centre of the room gathered with a group of dryads showing them dresses, no doubt for tomorrow's celebrations.

"Hey," I greet them as I enter, "Am I late or something?" I ask them. I doubt Susan asked me here to review dresses.

"Hullo!" Lucy greets me.

"Ed, not at all. If anything you are early," Susan tells me.

"Should I return later?" I ask her.

"No, no. Stay, please. We'll be done in a second." She tells me.

"Is, uh, Peter coming too?" I ask her, taking a seat.

"No, he said he'd be busy," she tells me.

"Hmm," strange. What could he be busy with so early? Oh, he's probably sneaking around with Imira, isn't he? Uh, Peter. He should just marry her an make our lives easier.

"Which dress do you like better?" Susan asks Lucy holding up two dresses. "I like this one, but I feel like the pink one fits the occasion better,"

"Mmm, I think... the pink one. Yes. The pink one is better. It's just more springy, isn't Ed?" Lucy asks me. As if I knew anything about dresses!

"Yes, the uh, springy one," I reply, making them laugh.

"Are you going to training afterwards?" Lucy asks me pointing at my sword.

"I am. Do you want to tag along?" I ask her raising my eyebrows at her. I would really like to start training with Lucy. So far she's had lessons with the arms master and has practised with dwarves because of height issues. But I believe it would be fun to fight with her, and apparently from the look on her face, so does she.

"Oh, yes! That would be so fun," Lucy replies enthusiastically.

"Great, maybe you could get your stuff while Sue here picks a dress?" I suggest.

"Yeah, good idea. I won't be long," she tells me before rushing out, taking with her the pink dress.

While she's gone Susan weighs out loud the pros and cons of each dress. How can she ponder on such matters for so long? It is not that hard, just pick one Susan. Pick one!

"It is a dress Sue, not a tax reform."

"It is not an easy choice Ed," she says rather seriously, giving me a pointed look.

"Sure it is," I tell her standing up and walk over to where the dryads are. "You like them all so just choose any one of them and be done with it,"
