IMIRA'S POV

We are crossing at the River Rush when suddenly I hear a disruption behind.

"Now what?" I ask no one in particular as I stop my horse and turn around.

Well apparently, the prisoners seem to think this is the perfect moment to execute an escape. Fools. The four guards Peter provided are trying to keep it under control, but some have to break free of their bonds and are ready to run away. Oh, not on my watch.

"Don't flee and you will be spared," a guard warns them, but his words go ignored.

"Very well then," I take out my sword and ride towards them, slashing off two heads and leaving two bodies behind. I turn my horse around and he whines and stands on his hind legs, scaring the remaining runaways.

"Anyone else?" They cower back and fall on their behinds. "Thought so,"

"Back in line!" Eurybe shouts at them.

I wipe the blood off my blade and sheathe it before returning to the front. As I ride past them, the prisoners look at me with disdain. As if I cared.

Eurybe approaches from my right, "Perhaps killing them wasn't the best idea," she whispers to me.

"If it were up to me we wouldn't be transporting any prisoners, but King Edmund insists on giving everyone a second chance and I respect his commands. These prisoners were given a second chance and they wasted it. Now I am alright with second chances, but I'm not one to give thirds."

We make it to Cair with many hours of daylight left.

The prisoners are taken to the dungeons and everyone's dismissed for the day.

Upon the main courtyard, I spot Lucy on the steps to the castle, she looks a bit taller than last I saw her, months ago. "Imira, you're back!" She exclaims upon seeing me.

"Lucy! How are you?" I ask bringing my horse to a halt in front of her and get off.

"Good, good. How's James?" She asks.

"Oh, very well, thank you for asking. He sends his regards."

"Thanks. How was the trip back?" She asks as we walk into the castle.

"It was alright," I reply. "So, where are your siblings?" I ask, changing the subject.

"Well Peter's not here," she starts.

"Oh, I know, saw him on my way back. He asked me to bring back some prisoners," I inform her looking behind my shoulder to the general direction the dungeons are located. Yes, there are dungeons. No castle is complete without them.

"Oh. Great. Thanks for doing that. Well, Susan and Edmund are attending the council. Budgets and that stuff." Lucy tells me.

"In that case, would you care to accompany me for some late lunch? I am famished."
