Chapter Twenty Six

"You've come to the right person."

"You must be kidding me," Payal said. "Seema-"

"Oh please Jiji! This is an excellent idea. So Chutki, will you help us?"

"Uh…." Chutki tapped her cheek with her finger, deciding.

"Please yaar!"

"Um… okay."

"Yes," Seema exclaimed and she high-fived Payal.

"Not like it matters," Chutki said under her breath, "Khushi Didi would get married to him anyways."

"Did you say something," Payal asked her.

"No."

"Oh Jiji, this is gonna be great," Seema exclaimed.

"You have no idea," Chutki said under her breath.

"You're right Seema," Payal said. "And I'm sure he'll love her a lot."

"A lot," Chutki asked under her breath. "More like he'll love her out of this world, that she'll go crazy."

"Did you say something Chutki," Seema asked.

"No, not say but think," Chutk replied.

"Oh, so what did you come up with?"

"Well… first of all, you two and your hone va-"

Payal and Seema scrunched their eyebrows.

"I mean, you two and your… your honeys! Yes! You two and your honeys have to follow Khushi Didi around a bit. See what she does and how she acts around that Arnav fella, 'kay?"

"Sure."

On Monday, Payal, Akash, Seema, and NK were watching out on Khushi's and Arnav's actions. Akash and NK noticed how Khushi came to the gym and Arnav had gone over to her and the two were talking. Payal and Seema saw how the two were walking, talking, and laughing.

"Something is up," Seema said.

The four were at a nearby Wendy's, sitting and eating. Payal was sitting next to Akash and Seema was sitting next NK, NK's arm resting on the booth.

"I agree," Payal said. "I mean they're close, but not close-close."

"Meaning… what," Akash asked.

"Like, they're close, friend-wise, but not couple-wise."

"Okay…?"

"You see the connection they have," Seema asked. "It's like as if they do go out, when they don't."

"I think I get what you're saying," NK said.

Payal and Seema looked at each other. "Boys," they said in unison, shaking their heads.

"Hey," the boys shouted.

"Payal? Seema?"

The four looked up and saw Khushi. Khushi looked at the four, once at the girls, once at the boys.

"Am I missing something here," Khushi asked.

"N-no," Seema said.

"I can see that," Khushi said, pointing at NK's arm.

NK flinched and moved his arm away.

"How long have you two been hiding this from me?"

The girls remained silent and were soon joined by Arnav.

"Oh, hey you guys! What's up," Arnav said.

Khushi looked at Arnav. "You knew?"

"Uh… yeah…. You didn't?"

"No!"

"Jiji, I was going to tell you," Seema said. "I swe-"

"Don't"

Seema sunk in her seat.

Khushi shook her head. "Whatever. You two couples have fun," she smiled and she left.

Arnav just stood there and the four looked at him.

"Well what are you waiting for? Go," all four yelled at him.

"Oh yeah, right," and he left.

Arnav went over to Khushi and both sat down, ate and talked.

"I can't believe those two are going out with your cousins," Khushi said.

"Well… if you like a person a lot, you do your best to get close to that person."

"True… but still, seems weird."

"Why?"

"Well don't you think it's kinda, I don't know… strange?"

Arnav scrunched his eyebrows.

"I mean, we go to college together… you guys came to our house once… and now they're hooked up? To me it's kinda weird."

Arnav just shrugged.

"So wait, Payal is with Akash and Seema is with NK?"

"Uh huh."

Khushi nodded in acknowledgement and resumed eating, leaving it at that.
