It had been weeks since Maya had talked to Josh last. Ever since Christmas, Josh had been trying his best to get time alone to talk with Maya, but it seemed everywhere he turned Maya had someone with her. Rather it was Farkle or Lucas and Riley. Whenever she was alone, Maya did her best to avoid him at all cost.

The rest of the time during Christmas, whenever Josh would even try to say something to her, she would pretend like he didnt even exist, and then of course one of her 'bodyguards' would get in between her and him and not even let him look in her direction.

Because of this, Josh decided that it would be best to not even show up for the new year celebration that they had every year over at the Matthew's. In fact, he had decided to go back to Philly for the whole week and spend time with his parents. He even took a little road trip and went to visit Eric and Morgan. Felt like maybe Maya would use the time to calm down and then he could talk to her after he got back.

He was wrong.

Maya seemed to be even colder towards him when he got back. Josh didnt think that was possible. He wanted to explain to her that everything she thought she knew, everything that Farkle had seen was all just a misunderstanding. Yes, Farkle did see what he thought he saw, but it wasn't because Josh was still in love with Adrianna, in fact, it was the complete opposite. If only she would just let him explain.

It didnt take long for word to get around school that there had been something going on with Josh and Maya over the last couple of months. Josh had Simon to thank for that. Apparently Maya had told him, or Farkle one, about what had happened and why things had suddenly 'ended' between them. Because the day that they came back from break after the new year, Josh was greeted back with a nice punch to the jaw.

"Hey Matthews!" Josh turned around from the busy courtyard of NYU of all the students getting back to see Simon walking his way.

"I'm not in the-"

Gasps coursed through the whole courtyard as people stopped what they were doing to look over at the scene that was now going on in front of them. Simon had cut Josh off by bringing his arm back and swinging with all his power and catching Josh right in the jaw.

Josh reached up to wipe the blood from his mouth as Simon grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and brought him up to his face.

"I told you if you ever hurt her I would handle you. Dont ever talk to her. I will end you." He pushed Josh back and turned around to walk away. Josh didnt talk back, he didnt even try to get even with Simon by punching back. He glared at the back of his head as he walked away.

Josh tensed up at the memory. It had been three weeks, and finals were coming up soon. He graduated in May and it was already in the middle of January. Josh had a lot of decisions to make, but he wanted Maya to be apart of them.

He stared at the letter from Los Angeles FBI department. He had gotten it in the mail right before Christmas. They wanted to know if he was still interested in taking the job and doing training in Quantico. He wanted to talk to Maya, he knew if he had any reason to stay, it would be her. But if she wasn't talking to him, if she never talked to him again, how was he supposed to tell her? Was it worth bringing up anyway? Maybe he should just go ahead and take the job.

His thoughts were interrupted by his dorm room door opening. He looked over to see his roommate Andrew. Josh sighed as he placed the letter back into his dresser drawer and closed it.

Andrew had also been treating him differently since the news had come out. Of course, Josh had explained the situation to Andrew telling him everything that he wished he could tell Maya. Andrew was still annoyed with Josh, telling him that him and Adrianna werent together anymore and that she needed to accept that.

Andrew glanced over at Josh before going over to his bed and plopping down on it. Neither of them said anything as Josh stood there awkwardly and Andrew staired at the ceiling.

"You need to talk to her." Andrew's voice broke out from the silence causing Josh to get frustrated. They were going to have this conversation for what felt like the millionth time since Christmas.

"I would. If she would actually talk to me. I cant even get her alone, its like shes the freaking presidents daughter and has the secret service surrounding her. Its impossible." Josh told him.

"Its only impossible because you're not trying harder. You and I both know that if you really wanted to you could get her alone." Andrew stated. Josh glared at his roommate.

"What am I supposed to do, kidnap her?"  He asked sarcastically. "And even if I did, there would be a search party out looking for her after ten minutes of her missing." Josh rolled his eyes. Andrew propped himself up on his elbows and glared at Josh.

"Stop making excuses and man up. Go talk to her, tell her those three magical words that all women want to hear. I was wrong." Andrew told him. Josh shook his head.

"Maya's not like that. She's not the type of girl that just wants to hear that she's right all the time." Josh told him. Andrew shook his head.

"Another reason to add to the list of why you're an idiot." Andrew said numbly. Josh rolled his eyes and walked out of the room.

Maya knew she was being childish, she knew that if she was in Josh's posistion she would have already written herslef off and no longer tried to keep chasing after her. She sighed as she placed her pencil down and leaned back in her chair, deciding she needed a break from homework.

"Maya, please talk to him." Riley spoke up from the bed. "Maybe its not as bad as we think it is." Riley told her. Maya sighed and turned to look at her best friend.

"Thats not the point, Riley. I shouldnt have let myself get involved with Josh in the first place. I should have just kept things the way they were. This whole thing with Adrianna has taught me that." She told her.

"So you're just going to ignore him until he graduates?" Maya bit her lip and shrugged her shoulders.

"I dont know. I just need time, I guess." Maya replied. Riley sighed.

"It's been three weeks, Maya. How much time do you need?" Maya didnt answer. Riley closed her books and leaned in closer towards her best friend. "Okay, so you dont want to get back with him, fine. But at least talk to him, get how you feel out into the open. Let him explain why he was with Adrianna. You owe him and yourself to hear the truth."

Maya stared at the floor before turning back to her work.

"I'll think about it." She mumbled causing Riley to give up and lay back on her bed.
