Chapter 20 - ARC Complex

Me and Lena stood there for a moment before we started making out again. I can tell you now, it was the most happy I'd been in eons. I'd finally found somebody who appreciates what I do and likes me for it. I would protect Lena with everything I had. I would spend eons more in hell just to keep her safe.

We were making out for about a minute, before we heard a knock on the door.

"I'll get it." I said, walking to the door. As I opened it I saw somebody I didn't think I'd see in a long time, and somebody I didn't at all want to see. Samuel Hayden.

"Great." I said. I wanted to slam the door in his face, but I knew I'd have to deal with him eventually, so I decided to get it over with earlier.

"Slayer. I know you do not wish to see me, but you need my help as much as I need yours. The last hell priest is located in Sentinel Prime. To get there, we will need to go through the lost city of Hebeth, in the core of Mars. The demonic crucible is the only power source large enough to open the slipgate. The demonic crucible is located in the ARC headquarters, which is currently under attack. I came here to get you because without the demonic crucible, there is no way to get to the third hell priest."

I looked back at Lena. She seemed slightly worried. As I turned back to Hayden, he finally noticed that I wasn't alone in my room.

"Oh sorry for bothering you, ma'am, but we need to go quickly. Without this crucible we will lose all hope of defeating this demonic invasion."

Reluctant as I was to listen to Hayden, I knew that he was right.

"When are we heading out?" I asked him.

"We need to go as soon as possible. Once you've finished up, we'll head to your fortress and go straight there."

I nodded at him and he turned around and left. I walked into the bedroom to grab my suit. Lena followed behind me.

"So you've got another mission?" Lena said while putting my hand on my shoulder.

"Yes I do. I'm not going alone, don't worry. I'm going with him and when we get there, they'll be ARC soldiers waiting for us. It shouldn't be too hard."

"Please be safe." Lena said while hugging me.

"Lena, of course I'll be safe. I won't be gone for long, so don't worry."

I stood up and started putting my suit on. Lena sat on the bed and watched me do it. I didn't put my helmet on yet, there was no need to. I grabbed all my guns and headed out to go meet Hayden.

"Goodbye, (y/n)." Lena said as she kissed me on the cheek.

"Goodbye Lena." I said kissing her back. I opened the portal to my fortress and stepped in, closing it behind me. I was greeted by Hayden, who was setting up the portal.

"Portal for the ARC headquarters set." Vega said.

"I see you've gotten your backup Vega working." He said to me.

"Yeah."

"(Y/n), the ballista has been unlocked for you downstairs. Also, your flame belch has been repaired and is ready for use."

I walked down to my ballista first. It was similar to my old Guass cannon, but was modelled slightly differently. The flame belch was new though. All it was was a big flamethrower on my shoulder which would do damage on its own, but do more damage if I shot something which was on fire.

I walked back up to see Hayden standing by the portal, waiting for me.

"Are you ready, slayer?"
