Hisoka
Kinta relaxed against him as she drifted off to sleep, Hisoka hummed happily as he smoothed the hair away from her face.
"Kitten hmm~?" He murmured. "That does have a nice ring to it~"
His mind wandered back to Kinta's fight as he watched her sleeping form. She'd toyed with the other girl, allowing Hoseki to beat her up in order to figure out her attack patterns and deal psychological damage when she'd turned the tides of the fight.
Kinta was more like Hisoka than he'd originally thought, she reminded him so much of himself when he was younger. A talented young prodigie, but so very angry at the world. But she had every reason to be angry, just like he did. Hisoka quickly shook the thought out of his head before his mind started down the rabbit hole of his past.
Illumi wanted her as well, Hisoka hadn't seen that coming. Illumi had never really expressed in interest in producing an heir for his family, though he'd mentioned it before. Hisoka never would have thought he'd take an interest in one of his toys.
His arm instinctually tightened around Kinta at the thought of Illumi whisking her away from him, causing her to stir.
"Mine~" He murmured as he watched her settle again.
Even though Illumi had said he'd still let Hisoka have his fun with her there was no way in hell he'd allow Kinta to go with him. Illumi would break her, just like he'd tried to do to his younger brother. He'd stick needles in her head to control her, although he'd probably hide it well, the toy he got back would be nothing like the pet he had now.
No, he quiet enjoyed having Kinta in his pocket. She wasn't going anywhere, she wasn't allowed to leave him.
"Hisoka-" Kinta murmured sleepily, snapping him out of his thoughts. "You're- squishing me."
Hisoka chuckled lightly as he relaxed his grip on her, he hadn't realized he'd been holding her so tightly.
"You're still freaking out about what Illumi said, aren't you?" She muttered, keeping her eyes closed.
"I wouldn't say I'm freaking out~"
Kinta wrapped her arms around his forearm, pulling in close to her until she was hugging his arm against her chest and nuzzled the palm of his hand.
Hisoka just watched her, confused at the odd display of affection. Was she even actually awake?
"I'd rather die than run and hide with that lifeless doll." She murmured against his hand and yawned, her body started to relax again as she drifted back to sleep. "I want to be with you-"
Hisoka froze, she wanted to be with him? What does she mean by that? Surely nobody wants to be around him for longer than they have to, for fear of him killing them eventually. Then again, Kinta acknowledged the fact that he wanted to destroy her. In fact, the challenge always seemed to light a fire in her eyes. Instead of the glint of fear most of his other toys displayed.
He watched her drift back to sleep, still hung up on her words. She wants to be with him? No, that's not what she meant. She needed him for the time being, to help her get stronger. Kinta was using him to get stronger, just like he was using her for his entertainment. That's all she'd meant by that, right?
'Why the hell are you second guessing yourself so much?' He mused, still watching Kinta. He'd found himself doing that a lot, especially when it came to deciding when he'd break Kinta. This girl seemed to bring out a new side to him, first he'd taken on a toy that obviously already had some damage. Then he'd allowed her to become his student, although it's not like he'd had much of a choice. And now, it was bad enough when he'd labeled her as his favorite toy. But now he'd claimed her as his pet? That was new.
This girl was threatening the facade he'd built up over the years, the mask he hid behind in order to protect himself. Kinta was more of a threat to him than he'd initially realized, not only in battle, but Psychologically as well.
She could lure him in like a poisoned fruit. Anxiety rolled in his stomach at the thought of Kinta pushing past his facade, how did she have this power over him?
'I should kill her.' The thought dominated his mind as he pulled a card from his pocket. Killing somebody while they were asleep wasn't usually his style, but Hisoka was frustrated at her effect on him. Her ability to make him question himself threatened the facade he had perfected over the years. His card was at her neck, just a flick of his wrist and he wouldn't have to worry about her anymore.
But his mind kept flashing images of her in his head. Fighting with him, training and the way her eyes would light up when she finally got something, the knot that formed on her forehead when he called her short, images of her under him, curled up against him, the conversations they'd had and how occasionally her eyes softened towards him, in a way he didn't think she realized.
'Damnit, just do it.' He told himself but his damn hand wouldn't move.  The sound of her laugh, the feel of her against him, the determination in her eyes when she faced a challenge.
Just then Kinta stirred, just enough to leave a nick on her neck from his card.
"Damnit." Hisoka sighed and pulled his hand away. He looked down at her for a long time, Kinta really was tiny. Her head would barely reach his chest when they stood next to each other and not only was she short but finely built as well. He could hold both of her wrists in one hand easily, images of him carrying Kinta flashed through his head. She was also surprisingly light, if he didn't know better he would think Kinta was easy prey. A feeble looking body and a kind face but Hisoka knew the only time she was feeble was when she was playing the part to lure her prey in.
To make matters worse, when she had looked at him as she came out of the shower, her eyes were different than usual. Sure there was the usual spirit and determination that excited him, but under that he'd seen the agony in her eyes. He couldn't quiet place where the pain was coming from, it didn't seem to be physical pain. It was deeper than that, perhaps stemming from her past? Even though she was determined to hide it from him and herself, he could see the pain she was in through her eyes. Because of that, there was a touch of fear as well.
Usually these displays of weakness enraged or bore Hisoka, but when he'd seen it in Kinta all he had thought about was how to make her pain go away. He'd wanted to comfort her, not toy with her.
Hisoka let out another frustrated sigh as he carefully untangled himself from her. "Get it together." He muttered to himself as he stood and headed for the shower. "Or this girl will be the death of you~"
