Girlfriend in Fowlerton Part 3

Sylvie's Pov

"Morning babe" Casey says to me as I roll over in bed. "Morning" I say as I lean in for a kiss. "So what time do you have to go to work?" he asks me. "Well I need to be there at 9am. You are more than welcome to come with me to shift. They won't mind. Martinez Actually likes having you hang around." I say. "Yeah he's fun to hang with. But I actually have something I have to do today." He says "oh really you going to tell me what it is" I ask curiously. "Nope you'll find out soon enough." He says teasing me. "That's not fair" I tease back. "That's life sweetheart" he laughs. I playfully hit him in the upper arm. "Would you like to get breakfast before shift" he asks me. I look at my watch. "Yeah I have time to grab something fast. How bout we go to the local café." I ask "yeah they have great coffee and yummy cinnamon rolls the size of your head." He says as he gets out of bed. I get out of bed and shower before we head out to the café. Just as I'm getting out of the shower I over hear Casey on the phone. "Yeah I'll be there.... yep uh huh.... See you then...." He says "who was that?" I ask as I grab my stuff to leave. "Oh a, just a construction client of mine for when I get back in town." He says with a shaky voice. I can tell something is up. But I'll find out later. "Oh okay cool. Hey we better go. I don't wanna be late." I say "yeah let's get going." He says to me. We arrive at the café about 10 minutes later. "Hi what can I get for you two?" the lady behind the counter asks us. "Um I'll have the apple spice with a bear claw" I say "and I'll have just a tall black coffee and one cinnamon roll." Casey says. "Alright that will be $14.72" she says to us. We pay and then head down to the end to collect what we ordered. "So I know you said you had errands to run but you are welcome to come by after if you want." I say as we sit down and eat. "Yeah that sounds great I should be able to make it by later in the evening." He says "perfect" I say with a smile. We sit and chat just a bit longer. We are now standing outside the firehouse. "You sure you can't come in just for a bit." I say.

Casey's Pov

"Nope sorry but I promise to stop by later." I say with a smile. "Alright well I got to get in before I'm late." she says "okay well have a good day. Stay safe and come home" I say as I lean in to kiss her. I look at my watch and realize what time it is. I had a about an hour and a half till my first meeting. I tried going back to Sylvie's place but I was so nervous I just kept pacing the house. So I decided to go for a run to calm my nerves. It didn't help. When I got back from the run I hoped in the shower and got dressed. I decided that since this was something special I would dress up more than normal. It was dark jeans a burgundy button up long sleeve shirt with a jacket. I arrive at the restaurant. Fowlerton doesn't have that many places to eat they are either way to fancy or hole in the wall places. I remember Sylvie talking about how much her family loved this hole in the wall dinner down Main Street. So that's where I picked to eat. I got to the restaurant early I was so excited and so nervous. This was it. I walk in and look around. I don't see Jim Brett . "Go head find an open table my dear." Says this sweet lady who looks like the owner. "thanks" I say as I find a booth in the back of the diner. "How many menus do we need" she asks as she comes over to my table. "Two please." I say. Just as she hands me them I see Jim Brett. I wave him over. Once he's here I stand to great him. "It's so good to meet you again. I'm glad you were able to make it." I say. "What is it that you wanted to talk about?" He asks me as we order our food. "Well I asked you here because as you know I'm in love with your daughter, and I have been dating her for some time now. She has been the light of my life. When she is happy, I am happy. I never thought that I would have to fly over 7,000 miles to find the love of my life when she only lives 3 hours from me. You have raised a truly wonderful woman. The time spent with your daughter has lead to me the inescapable conclusion that she is the one with whom I want to spend the rest of my life with. She is my everything. With you being her father, I am convinced the gentlemanly course is to first attain your blessing. So I asked you here today for your daughters hand in marriage." I say with the biggest smile ever. "I would be honored to have you marry my daughter. I see just how happy you make her. The happiest she's been in years. You have my permission. Congratulations." He says to me as he shakes my hand. "Thank you this has made my day." I say "I kinda thought that you might be asking me this today so I brought along something special. It's her grandmother's engagement ring. Sylvie always loved how it looks. So I thought that if you didn't have a ring picked out that you could use this one. But no worries if you already have one." He says as he shows me the ring. "That's funny I was just going to ask you about the ring. I know what her grandmother meant to her and I thought her wearing the ring would be nice." I say "well it's the wrong size" he says "I actually have an appointment today to see if I can get it resized." I say "well than here you go it's all yours." He says. We finish up lunch, I pay the bill and we part our ways. I had just enough time to stop in quickly at the firehouse before I went to my next appointment

Sylvie's pov

I was just pulling the Ambo back into the bay when I saw Matt walking up the apron. "Hey you how has your day been?" I ask him. "It's been amazing" he says with a smile. "Why is that?" I ask. "Just feeling like a good day. How as work been so far?" he asks. "It's been slow this has been the only run we've been on since we started." I say. "Yeah if you were in Chicago, you would have had at least 4-6 runs by now." He says with a laugh. "Wanna come inside I can do my paper work later." I say "I actually have somewhere I need to be. But I'll stop by after words before I head back to your place for the night. I promise. Just really wanted to see you and say a quick hi to you." He says as he kisses me and heads back to his car. I wonder what he is up to. I think as I head back inside to finish my paperwork from the call.

Casey's Pov

I hoped in my truck and drove to my next stop. It was in the next town over so what I was doing wouldn't get back to Sylvie. I arrive at the jewelry store and head in. "How can I help you?" The lady asks. "Hi I'm Matt Casey I have an appointment." I say "Ah yes I have you right here what can I do for you today Mr. Casey." She asks me. "I called last week about possibly getting a ring resized. It's an antique." I say as I pull the box out that has the ring in it. It's got braid etching down the sides with three oval diamonds on top. One nice size in the middle flanked by two smaller diamonds. It's perfect. "Let's take a look shall we." She says to me. I hand over the box and she takes it out. "This ring is easy to resize. What size are we thinking?" she asks me. "I was told by her parents that she's a 7" I say "alright I will write all this up and we can get you checked out." She says "How long will it take? I'm only in town for another 5 days." I ask. "Well normally it can take up to a week or two. But I can make it Thursday for you at no extra charge." She says to me. "That would be wonderful I was hoping to propose while I was down here for the week." I say "aw how did you two meet?" she asks me. "That's a funny story we live 3 hours from each other but meet over 7,000 miles on separate trips to the same location." I say with a smile. "That's so romantic" she says as I finish up paying. Once I'm done I head back to the firehouse before heading back to Sylvie's place just as I promised I would do.
