"You're back early."

Lin Yie hears Ansel's voice right after entering the room. He doesn't even have to look to know that Ansel is reading on his own bed again.

"Yeah."

Ansel glances at Lin Yie and asks, "Did you not train with Yato? And why are you naked?"

"No," Ignoring the other question, Lin Yie asks, "How did you know?"

Ansel shakes his head, "You're not sweating. Did you give up already? Tsk, I thought you could last for a month at least."

"Who said I gave up?" Lin Yie retorts as he puts his sword on the shelf, "Do I look like the sort of person who lacks perseverance?"

Ansel nods without hesitation, "Yeah."

Lin Yie rolls his eyes.

"So what's your excuse this time?"

"I had to monitor the drones in my office."

"That's your excuse for slacking off?"

"Don't slander me like that."

Ansel shrugs and turns back to his book. He wasn't serious, but then, he suddenly remembers something. He asks, "You said you were in your office all this time?"

"Yeah, so?"

".."

Lin Yie can guess what Ansel wants to say, and as expected, Ansel shakes his head, "You really are brave. Didn't I tell you about the residents of that floor? And you still dared to stay there late at night."

"I heard the same thing from other people already."

"Oh?" Ansel raises his eyebrows, "Who told you?"

"Ptilopsis and Orchid," Lin Yie says, "They gave me the same reminder." Lin Yie sits on his bed and stretches, "But I think you guys were just exaggerating."

Ansel snickers and continues reading, "You're just lucky to not run into any of those people."

Lin Yie is not sure if he should tell Ansel about Skadi, so he asks in an indirect way, "If I want to hire someone, should I ask Orchid or Amiya?"

Ansel flips a page and says, "That depends on who you are hiring. If you are hiring an outsider, you need to ask Amiya, Dr. Kal'tsit, and the Doctor, especially for some important position. For example, Orchid could hire you for an internship, but if she wanted to turn your internship into a full-time job, she would need the executives' approval. If you are hiring someone from Rhodes Island, you just need Orchid's signature. However, some operators are exceptions to the rules. They need Amiya's permission."

"Can you give me an example?"

"There's a medic called Blue Poison. She always wants to be a pastry chef in the cafeteria, but Dr. Kal'tsit has always rejected her application. And Hibiscus is not allowed to be the chef. Even Ifrit, who wants to set up a BBQ section in the cafeteria..."

... Kal'tsit had to step in? Who the fuck are those people?

"So, did you find another assistant?" It doesn't take long for Ansel to guess why Lin Yie asked the question. "From Lungmen? If that's the case, you will need Amiya's permission."

"No, I haven't heard from Lungmen yet."

"Somewhere else?"

Lin Yie shakes his head, "No."

"What's with your face?"

"I'm worried that someone won't agree."

Ansel says softly, "Your office is not even that important. Even Ptilopsis can work for you. What's there to worry about."

Lin Yie smiles, "I hope you're right."

Ansel flips to another page, "So, who did you hire?"

"Skadi."

"Oh," Ansel absently replies, "Skadi? That name sounds familiar. Which department is she from?"

"..."

Ansel doesn't seem to care. Maybe he's just too absorbed in his book. Since the conversation is over, Lin Yie begins to change his clothes.

A few seconds later, Ansel's face suddenly turns pale. He jumps up from his bed and shouts, "You, you, you, did you mean that Skadi?!"

Lin Yie nods.

"Yeah, that Skadi."
