Door 74... Nothing
Door 75...Nope
Door 76...Fuck
I groaned in frustration on the second floor, still not finding the safe zone. I leaned my head on one of the doors, tears welling up in my tears. Too much shit happened in the last 24 hours. I was still not used to risking my life, to feel death creeping from behind me.
But this isn't a place to have a mental breakdown. So with all my will, I straighten up, cracking my knuckles shakily. Loud shots rang around me again, piercing my ears. I looked around and then rushed to the railing wall. On the fourth floor, where I have been 5 minutes ago, stood the horseman.
Was he shooting down below? Why? He could have done that sooner.
„Karube go down behind the wall!" a familiar voice yelled. Another set of fast shots were heard, but now I wasn't that unbothered by it.
„Arisu! What are you doing there? When did you get there?" I yelled loudly, not noticing them go by the stairs before. Didn't they plan to take the tagger out? Where are the other two bracelet men?
As I was ducked behind the wall, two panicked sets of feet were heard above me. I knew they were going to the stairs, so I quickly half crawled there. My gun cold against my bare skin, still not used against the enemy.
„Y/n! The safe zone is above us, the door with holes around it. We couldn't go in or we would get killed-" he got cut off by the heavy combat boots coming down the stairs. Karube looked at me relatively normally for the first time this day, me knowing that they have a plan.
They want to distract the horse, the big guy probably waiting for downstairs to beat him up somehow. I nodded at the two, my very bad habit of saluting got the best of me and hid in a hole in the wall. I heard them rush downstairs, the tagger 6 seconds behind them.
„Don't die." I whispered and looked up, closing my eyes briefly. I ran up the stairs quickly, wanting this nightmare to end fast as possible. Taking two steps at a time and sliding into the hallway was easy in the heat of things.
Until I saw the devilish angel examining the unlocked door.
His hands in his pockets, an unbothered stance, and that stupid smile. He suddenly turned to face me, probably heard my god awful panting. His eyebrows raised and he looked me up and down.
„Rough night?" he mused as if running from a killer was a party on a Friday evening. I glared at him, not in a mood for poor jokes. I walked stoically to him, his face still an appropriate amount of space away.
„Step aside from the door Blondie." I simply said, not bothering to put emotion in my sentence. He raised his eyebrows even higher, a cold glare replaced his mischievous expression, and nodded at the door.
„I know this door leads to the safe zone, so you better hurry up opening the door," his cat-like eyes looking me up and down „girl." he remarked, not angry but also not pleased by this interaction. I was surprised that he knew where the safe zone is, always on the top floor, not opening any of the doors.
He is probably smart like Arisu. Noted.
My hand reached for the doorknob, but hesitatingly. I let out a deep breath, not knowing what is behind the door. I looked at him with a frown, questions running through my head.
„What if it is a trap? Or someone is in it?" I asked, finally realizing the seriousness of the situation.
He looked down with a small smirk, the corners of his mouth even more prominent. „That could be true," he looked at me and took his phone from his pocket „however," the screen said is only four minutes until the end „the clock is ticking and I don't want to die." he finished with an amused tone.
