"What is it?" Her voice, blank and blunt, traveled through the phone, momentarily rendering me speechless for some reason.

"How long with the reports?" I demanded.

"I said I'll send them with Ariel in a couple of minutes." She spat.

"Not Ariel, you, Vittoria. You will bring them to my office right now. I don't want any more delays." With that I hung up, leaving no room for discussion.

Let's see how long was she going to ignore me. This was really getting on my nerves now. Ever since the pregnancy scare, I barely get to even so much as see her. No matter what I do, which way I do it, nothing seems to work on her. I thought the gossips about me being engaged would affect her. Even that didn't. Honestly, I wasn't sure how long until I lose my fucking patience.

"Enter." I dictated in a stern voice hoping my expectant eyes didn't give away anything to her.

The door opened and the small smile on my face disappeared before it even formed, the dying relief replaced by a menacing shock.

"Camila?" I whispered, adjusting my vision to make sure it was really her.

"I was missing you." She said shyly, her heels clicking as she walked over to me, lightly pecking my lips. "Save all the scolding for coming here while Luca being so close. Oliver has taken care of that part already." She laughed softly to cover up the fear which was still evident in her voice.

"Why are you doing this, Camila?" She was clearly afraid to be here. Scratch that, she flinched at every single noise even at home. I wonder if she'll ever heal.

"I want things to go back to normal. As they were before." She lowered herself on my lap, snuggling into my chest.

"Uh, Camila."

"It's high time, Rafael. You've even admitted our engagement to the press. I didn't want to be a secret anymore." She said timidly.

Wait! Hold on! Stop!

"Do you mean everyone here knows you're my fiancée?" I gasped. I felt her nodding her head.

Fuck!

Vittoria!

"You don't get to make that decision. Looks like you've forgotten your limits, Camila." I yelled, instantly regretting it.

Her body trembled visibly and she moved away in fear, scurrying away from me.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." I got up hastily, securing her into a friendly hug.

"I'm ready to face the punishment. I apologize for crossing the line." She sobbed, making me feel like an asshole that I was.

"No, please don't cry, Mila. No such thing is going to happen." I rubbed her back gently.

The violent jerk of the door opening made me snap my eyes towards it. Vittoria stormed in with the file in her hand, slammed in on my desk and strode out without sparing us a look.
