One week later.

It was like this entire house was grieving. A somber funereal cloud had been lingering around us.

We were trying to be happy. But we just couldn't. Alli seemed to be the only one acting normal. I seriously will never understand how these women are so strong. How can one go on with so much trauma. It was beyond my imagination.

But at least one good thing came out of it.

Ollie and Alli were official.

Every single person— from the guards to the boss, everyone had put in all their efforts to search that repulsive excuse for a human Nikolai. But Oliver asked us to stop. Allegra didn't want it. And he wanted us to respect that.

Taking a cold shower after yet another sleepless night, I picked up my phone and dialled Harri.

It had been two days since Xenia's surgery. It was successful. The good news we badly needed.

"Hey, Masey." Vittoria whispered from the other end of the call. She was with Harri to support him. I hadn't even seen her for four days now.

"You okay, kiddo? You sound exhausted."

"I'm fine, just a little sleepy. We just got her home. She's sleeping."

"I hope she's okay. Was she crying?"

She was too young to have her chest tore apart to operate her heart. But it had to be done. This cruel world worked that way.

"She's a strong little girl." She mumbled proudly.

"How's Harri?"

"Not at all taking care of himself." Her voice was mingled with some noises at the background. "I'll talk to you later, Mase." She said urgently.

"Okay take care. I'll see you later."

"Yep. Bye- oh wait!"

"Yes?"

A long silence stretched on the line as she hesitated speaking. "H-how's everyone at home?"

"Like they have been this entire week." With that, I hung up.

I preferred not to think about it again. It wasn't getting me anywhere. So I headed into the woods for a morning jog hoping it helped me distract my thoughts.

I regretted it immediately. I wasn't alone in here. I stopped and turned back before she noticed me. I really wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep myself from killing her right this instant.

"Mason!"

Ugh! Why me, god? I can't be that bad.

"Camila."
