erling knew he had very strong feelings for you, but he didn't truly know how strong those feelings were. he knew he must be getting close to love, because his feelings seemed to be getting deeper and deeper every single day.

but there was one moment above every other moment that had made him finally realise that he had fallen deeply in love with you.

you were a massive football fan. everyone who knew you knew that about you. all you life you had been obsessed with it, and that was a quality in you that erling loved a lot. it meant that he could not only talk about football with you, and you would be completely okay with that, but you also understood the way that he felt about football, because you felt it too.

it was really important for erling that he found someone that understood why he dedicated so much of his time to football, and it was also so important that, whoever that person may be that he fell in love with, they supported him through every journey that he went on throughout his career.

and you certainly gave him that. whatever match you could get to you were there, and if you couldn't be there physically, then you would be watching it from home. you knew exactly the right things to say whenever he came home after a loss, obviously feeling down about it. but you were also there to share his joy whenever he came home after a win, especially if he had scored.

today was no different. erling arrived home after the day's game, walking into your living room where you jumped on him straight away, holding onto him so tight. "i'm so so proud of you!"

he placed you down on the sofa, and sat next to you, so he could talk with you about the game from a better angle. "i can't believe you scored another hat-trick. do you know how amazing you are? and that second goal! you know, you never fail to amaze me, even though i've known you for so long, and watched you play so many times, your ability still shocks me, even though i know you're going to do great every single time."

it was at that moment that he knew. watching you talk with so much passion about him, and something you both loved so much. something, that if you were going to be together for a while, would be part of your lives for a very long time, if not the rest of it. he knew that he had finally found what he needed in life, a soulmate. someone whose soul was so evenly matched with his, that you could barely tell them apart.

"i love you," he whispered, looking directly into your eyes. you were still talking when he said it, the three words immediately shutting you up.

but they didn't come as a shock to you, because you had been feeling the exact same way. and you knew, with hope, that erling would be feeling the same, either at the same time as you or sometime soon. you were very ready to hear those words that made your heart flutter, and you were also very ready to say them back.
