It had been surreal, when you had awoken atop a bed of flowers. Above a powerful light shined down from the sun which was pointed on you like a stage light. From there, your journey of discovery and adventure, joy and fun, hardship and a bit of sadness, began. From the Ruins and to Toriel's house, to Snowdin and the Skelebros home, to waterfall and leading to Undyne, to Hotland, through Alphys lab to MTT Resort, right through the core and capital to Asgore's palace and home. Right to the barrier, and finally, beyond to the overworld. It was an adventure that seemed like something from fantasy or a game. But it felt so real. The Plants and wildlife, the citizens to the snow, water and everything in between; it was real. You could touch it all and feel it. And not just feel objects, but also those who became your friends and family. Sans and Papyrus, Undyne and Alphys, Asgore and Toriel, everyone! And when you met Mettaton? It was strange, being who you were and falling in love with a possessed robot who was a diva in every way. But your heart clearly had made up its mind, and by the time you reached the surface, you had grown a crush and feeling for the star. So eagerly, you sought to try and at least become more than just acquaintances. It began with attending his shows, and later, to helping him and monsterkind become part of the surface world once again. From there, your relationship steadily grew. Even when you were forced to deal with the lost child of Chara, the unexpected return of Gaster, and the last effort of Flowey; you prevailed each and every time. Finally culminating in now, with you and Mettaton sharing a kiss as everyone elsewhere celebrated the end of Flowey's second reign of terror, and the final time Asriel was finally laid to rest at last and was now at peace. Everything seemed perfect, all loose ends tied up, all secrets discovered, and your happy ending was here. As you lay to rest beside Mettaton late one night, you awoke from the warm and homey room you shared with your love, and instead to the stale atmosphere and white walls of a hospital room.

Confusion rang throughout your mind as to just what had happened, followed by panic as you wondered what had happened and where was everyone. Finding your heart rate had grown, you unconsciously removed the tubes connecting you to the machines around and forced your body up, now moving yourself towards your window to look outside only to find a world the same as you left it with only humans for miles around. Confusion and additional panic hit you then, your worry for your 'family' as you tried reaching for your phone. Finding it, you quickly scroll through your contacts but couldn't find anyone's number you recognized. Your heart was beating through your chest, as your eyes began to water. 'What is happening? What is going on? Where is everyone!?' Stopping to look outside again, you couldn't see anyone you had seen before. It was just humans wondering about living their life normally without care. Eventually after waiting a few minutes, you finally set your phone down as your fears of what was going on seemed to be true. Now you wondered why humans even dreamed to begin with, especially since moments like this when it revealed itself to be unreal and with nothing in your dream coming or being true. Unable to help yourself, tears came as you found your seat on the edge of your hospital bed and held your phone close. As the harsh reality of the situation came, so did realization hit when upon noticing your clothes nearby. Reaching into one of your pockets, you managed to find something that surprised you. Within your pocket held a ring, one that looked similar to the wedding ring in your 'dream,' and that caused you to be stunned wondering what this could possibly mean. Without another word, you slide it on your ring finger whilst a doctor and nurse enter the room, joined by your family and friends to which you were left confused, as you had no memory of them. It wasn't long until the doctors explained you had suffered an injury to the head that left you out cold, and worse still, in a coma. As things were explained, and as your family spoke to you attempting to help you remember, your thoughts were clouded with sadness as you began remembering everything. But you didn't want to, as it meant everything you thought you once knew. That you believed or knew, was completely false. Within that moment, you couldn't help but to cry. Your family and friends tried to comfort you, as you let your emotions run.

A day later and you were finally released but had to stay home to recover some more. Alone again, this time in your own room, you stared mindlessly up at the ceiling questioning everything you knew. Wondering if it was true or not, until your eyes landed on a familiar plush that sat idly by on the nightstand beside your bed. Mettaton's unblinking eye stared back at your own, as you looked the ex robot over for a moment. The memories burned, and your heart ached, but you nevertheless reached for a retrieved your 'friend' and placed him securely between your arms and chest. Feeling the soft material he was made out of, you felt a feeling of warm and comfort fall over you as you considered that this was the next best thing. Even if he wasn't real, he still was important to you deep down and was real enough. As you did, the ring which you had found within your pocket shined softly under the light, though you failed to notice.
