──── 𝘼 𝙒𝙀𝙀𝙆 𝙃𝘼𝘿 passed away since naoko had been promoted to a special grade sorcerer. she hadn't gotten a lot of work yet, but with how much her boyfriend had been out on missions, she'd figure that it would pick up soon.
the group had thrown naoko a party to celebrate her promotion. yaga-sensei sent his regards as he was proud of the students he taught, considering three of them were special grades now.
however, what had been looming over naoko's mind was this unexpected meeting that her father had told her about. she couldn't help but worry about the topic of the meeting as it was in fact out of schedule. the plan was to have one last meeting two months before the wedding and then a few days before the wedding. but this, this was not in the schedule, so naoko couldn't help but feel a little anxious about what was to come.
she didn't tell her boyfriend not wanting him to think too much about it like she had. she could be wrong after all. well, she hoped she was wrong.
as she stood outside, once again, of her family's estate, she took a deep breathe before entering and walking through the usual garden path that led to the zenin meeting building where the head family lived.
with her boyfriend following, they entered the meeting room where food could be seen laid out across the table like the first meeting. she could tell this would be a long meeting based on past meetings with other meetings. if there was lots of food, it was bound to be a long meeting.
"ah naoko! you made it just in time, darling." her mother spoke to her in a new tone. being promoted also meant getting respect from everyone in the clan. this was all new to naoko, but she didn't care for the change as she all knew it was just a facade, they all put up anyways.
"sit down, naoko, satoru. we can finally start this meeting now that the two of you have arrived." gojo's father spoke as he looked towards naobito, hoping he'd commence the meeting.
"right. well i know that you are all surprised that we called this sudden meeting." naoko's father started as she raised an eyebrow 'everyone? so even the gojo clan didn't know about this meeting?' she thought to herself.
"upon naoko's promotion to a special grade, she would be the first ever in our clan to reach that ranking. the other members of the clan don't wish to let that kind of power go, what kind of clan would?"
"what are you saying, naobito? what will become of this marriage then?" gojo's father asked as the couple sat there in shock. they knew exactly what this meant. naoko's heart broke right there. it's not like gojo broke up with her personally, but this was probably just as bad. her family had ruined something for once again.
she wanted to cry on the spot. but she couldn't because she had just told her father last meeting that she felt nothing for the 'gojo boy'. he would raise suspicion if she cried right now. so, choking on her own tears, she just watched as the fathers talk to each other.
gojo on the other hand sat there in disbelief. he was so infuriated with the decision that the zenin clan had made. not to say he was surprised though, every clan is thirsty for power and naoko fit that criteria like glove. he clenched his fist in anger which he hid behind his stoic face, but naoko held her hand in his and he loosened.
she looked at the boy knowing he'd probably speak up about it because she knew him so well. he looked back at the girl who shook her head telling him not to. in naoko's mind it was best not to speak up about it because then the clans would find out about their relationship and by then the clan would do everything in their power to separate them.
"you know what i mean. we are calling off this marriage. we cannot and will not be letting naoko get married into the gojo clan."
