"Mr. Shen, so this is where you are," a guest said upon spotting Shen Jiayan from a distance.
Shen Jiayan snapped out of his thoughts and looked in the direction of the voice, where he saw Shen Yaocheng standing next to the guest, staring at him with a dark expression.
Shen Jiayan felt a chill in his heart. Had he been absent too long and made him angry?
He quickly walked over and smiled, "Brother."
Then, he nodded and smiled politely at the guests around Shen Yaocheng.
Even if Shen Yaocheng was upset, he probably wouldn't show it in front of so many people, right?
Sure enough, under the watchful eyes of the crowd, Shen Yaocheng slowly withdrew his gaze and responded with a simple, "Hmm."
Shen Jiayan secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Unfortunately, after that, Shen Yaocheng no longer allowed Shen Jiayan to move around on his own. Instead, he kept him close, introducing him to the endless stream of guests who came to greet them. Although Shen Jiayan was reluctant, he had no choice but to smile and go along with it.
Not far away, Bai Mo stood alone by a high table, his gaze fixed on Shen Jiayan. At that moment, Shen Jiayan had a somewhat stiff smile on his face as he conversed with a guest. His hair was still slightly messy, but his collar was now neatly buttoned up, likely thanks to his older brother who was keeping a close eye on him.
"How unseemly."
A shadow loomed over him, and Jiang Yuanzhou's cold voice sounded beside him.
"If I'd known this would happen, I should have dealt with you earlier."
Bai Mo glanced at him sideways, his expression indifferent. "Yes, you missed your chance. It's a pity."
Jiang Yuanzhou stared at him for a moment, his lips curling, but without any real smile in his eyes.
"To be honest, when we first met, I never imagined your true nature would be like this."
Bai Mo said nothing, his attention still on Shen Jiayan.
His true nature? Perhaps he had always been like this, but this side of him had just been hidden in the dark recesses of his mind.
If anything, it was Shen Jiayan who had brought this side of him to the surface.
So, he had to take responsibility.
Perhaps sensing his gaze, Shen Jiayan turned and met his eyes. Bai Mo smiled at him, and Shen Jiayan quickly blushed, hastily looking away.
The smile in Bai Mo's eyes deepened.
Jiang Yuanzhou, witnessing this, tightened his gaze on Shen Jiayan, his eyes unusually cold.
Just then, the sound of footsteps brought him back to reality. A figure stopped beside the table—it was Jiang Mingyue.
Bai Mo glanced at him indifferently, noticing the cold stare directed at him.
"Was it you?"
He met the other man's gaze without flinching and calmly replied, "What does it matter to you?"
Jiang Mingyue's eyes flickered, and the air around him grew even colder as he looked at Bai Mo with icy disdain. He opened his mouth to say something, but was interrupted by a voice.
"What are you talking about?"
The three of them turned to see Shen Jiayan and Shen Yaocheng approaching, all their gazes landing on Shen Jiayan at the same time.
