When Oikawa's grandmother asked him to help with her flower shop, he wanted to say no. He didn't want to waste what little time he had before before his college classes; waking up early enough to get to them was enough, and staying after classes for his volleyball practice was enough to knock him out for twelve hours every night. But he couldn't say no to his grandma. She was the sweetest damn thing in the world; always baking him sweets, giving him the best birthday presents, letting him do things that his parents wouldn't when he stayed at her home. She was one hell of a lady, but she was getting old. So, until she could hire somebody, Oikawa agreed to help her.

On his first Monday in the small flower shop, he got out of bed, grabbed a huge cup of coffee, and walked to the shop. By the time he arrived the sun was barely rising in the sky, a sight that made Oikawa want to cry. Who the hell wanted to be up this early?

He greeted his grandma upon entering the building, planting a kiss to her cheek as he had every time he saw her. She walked him through the different flowers that littered the shop, and made sure he knew where the cheat sheet was in case he was unsure as to what flowers would be best for which situation.

His grandmother left him alone half an hour after the shop had opened, seeming as there was no business. She claimed that Mondays were slow, that Oikawa wouldn't have any troubles because usually the only early morning customers were people needing roses to get forgiveness from somebody special after a weekend of idiocy.

He assured her that he could handle it - he was Oikawa Tooru, he could handle anything - and he spent the next hour on his phone because nobody entered the store. He was about to call Iwa-Chan and complain about being bored when the door to the shop opened, a ding ringing throughout the building to signify someone entering.

"Hello, if you need any help finding anything, feel free to ask!" Oikawa said, looking up to see a - very - cute girl standing in front of the entrance. She looked confused when she heard Oikawa's voice, and then made a surprised look when she found Oikawa behind the register. She let the look subside and it grew into a smile.

"Oh, did Oikawa-San finally hire somebody?" she asked, walking over to a group of red poppies, grabbing a few. Oikawa was a little surprised to know that she was familiar with his grandma.

"Oh, no. I'm her grandson; I graciously offered to help her while she searches for an employee." Oikawa placed a hand on his heart and smiled brightly at the girl hoping to woo her.

"You didn't offer," a new voice said, walking into the room from a back door. "It's nice to see you, (f/n). How is your grandmother doing? I didn't get to see her at all this last week."

(f/n) smiled widely at the elder lady, and allowed a hug to commence when she reached Oikawa-San, flowers in hand.

"She's doing well; been really tired lately, but she's better than last year. How have you been? This grandson of yours taking care of you?"

The woman nodded and smiled, leading the younger girl to the counter. "He is taking great care of me; despite having classes in an hour and really hard practice afterwards, he agreed to helping his little old grandma with her shop."

Oikawa was blushing, flustered by his grandmother's praise, but didn't say anything. He was about to flirt with (f/n), but then he realized how pointless that would be; she was at a flower shop, early on a Monday, so she obviously had somebody important to her that she was getting flowers for. Oikawa flirting with her could piss her off, and possibly loose his grandmother a customer, so he instead just plastered on a smile and listened to them talk. Plus, being turned down in front of his grandma would suck.

"That's very kind of you, gracious grand son!"

Oikawa-San had taken the flowers from the girl's hand and tied a ribbon around them for her, and (f/n) handed her the amount of money she was used to. After she received the flowers she smiled to Oikawa, and he smiled back.

"Take care of this lady, okay? She is my grandma's best friend, I can't have her falling over or anything."

Oikawa saluted the stranger, a large smile on his face. "Don't worry; she's one of my favorite people, I've gotta watch her for my own good too."

(f/n) laughed at this. "I like you, Oikawa. I'll see you next Monday." She walked out then, and Tooru turned to his Grandma.

"Next Monday?" he questioned. She must really be in love to be coming in every week for flowers.

"Yeah, you'll be seeing a lot of (f/n)," Oikawa-San said, straightening out some of the ribbon behind the register. "She comes in everyweek."

Tooru frowned, the thought making him bitter. "She must really be in love," he pouted, which caused his grandma to smile, and decided to play along.

"She is."

Oikawa only saw (f/n) three times after that before finding out the flowers weren't for a significant other. They'd talked very little, but Oikawa found himself loving the few minutes he got to see her every Monday. It was reaching the beginning of the second week of February, which meant more orders were being placed at the small shop for large, beautiful bouquets of flowers. It made Oikawa a little annoyed that (f/n) came in every week to get somebody flowers, but he hadn't received an order to construct a beautiful bouquet for a (l/n) (f/n). Who could be in a relationship with such an amazing girl and not buy her flowers?

He was working his last day there - he actually asked his grandmother to let him work that Monday so he could say goodbye to (f/n) - when she came in and bought a larger bundle of flowers than usual. Oikawa smiled as he rang her up.

"Anniversary?" he asked with the smile on his face, although the word came out more rude than he wanted it to. "Or an early Valentine's Day bouquet?"

"It's my grandma's 72nd birthday," she informed him, digging in her purse for the money. "I figured the usual flowers won't do for this important a date, so I am buying her a larger bundle of flowers than usual."

Oikawa stopped himself from making the flowers look pretty in the plastic wrapping, something he'd mastered in the last month. "You buy these flowers for your grandmother?" He was a little embarrassed at how hopeful his voice came out, but he didn't even let it faze him because he was damn excited; he could ask her out.

(f/n) nodded and smiled wide. "She almost died last year, and I realized that I never made it clear how much I appreciated her. So, I buy her flowers and have brunch with her and my grandpa every Monday to let them know."

Oikawa just stared at her for a minute, and then smiled wide. "So I could ask you out if I wanted to?"

(f/n)'s smile grew to match his. "If that's what you want to do then yeah, you can do it." She handed him the money and watched as he rang her up.

"Would you wanna go out with me? On Valentine's Day, maybe?"

"I'd love to," she admitted, the smile still on her face. "Took you long enough to ask me, Oikawa," she added with a wink.

He looked to her with a face of mock hurt. "You come in here every week and buy flowers! How am I supposed to know it's not for the world's greatest boyfriend or girlfriend?"

(f/n) laughed at this and grabbed the flowers he was holding out to her. "Touche," she said, and then she reached for the pen next to the register. On the back of the receipt he handed her she wrote her number, along with her name and a small heart. "Text me later so we can straighten out a time for the date."

She handed him the receipt and then left, leaving Oikawa dumbfounded behind the counter. His grandma walked into the main part of the building with a warm smile. "About time," she said to him, and he immediately pouted at her.

"You told me she was in love!"
