I woke up with a pounding headache and my thigh burning. My hands weren't in pain just my thigh and my head.

"You're awake. How are you feeling?" Dr. Yang asked as he looked down at his clipboard.

"Where's my dad?" I asked ignoring his previous question.

He simply smiled as he walked closer to me, "He never left your side. He went home for some rest, he'll be here soon." He said as he began to take the blanket off.

Out of instinct I quickly snatched the blanket and covered myself. I looked up at him with furrowed eyebrows and clenched the thin blanket, "what are you doing?" I asked.

"I just want to check your bandages, that's it." He said gently as he set his clipboard aside.

I nodded my head slowly as I let go of the blanket. I reached up to touch my nose and knitted my eyebrows together as I touched my entire face with two hands.

"Where's the dried up blood?" I asked, "I just woke up, unless you cleaned it." I said.

He gently took off the blanket and I realized I wasn't wearing my torn clothes anymore I was wearing a hospital gown, "It's been 3 days." He said as he gently placed a hand on my bare thigh.

"What the fuck?" I asked as I looked around, "3 Days?" I asked, "h-how? It felt like I just took a nap, I just remember you picking me up from the floor and putting me back on the bed-"

"I had to sedate you, I couldn't have you hurting yourself." he said as he began to undo the bandage.

"Can I go home now?" I asked as I crossed my arms.

"Maybe later today Nicole." he said as he threw away the old bandages.

I rolled my eyes, "What's so important about a small cut, Phoebe?" I asked as I stared at him.

He let out a small chuckle as he nodded his head, "right. Cole. I'm sorry." He apologized, "you're a tough little one" he snickered.

I shrugged my shoulders, "That's How I get by" I said as I looked out the window.

"What do you mean? You're 14, you don't have to get by anything" he said as he checked my stitches.

"You have no idea" I said as I looked back at my thigh.

"I feel like you're holding back on a ton of curse words at this point" he said.

"I feel like I should hold back because my dad can burst through those doors any second, and he doesn't like me using words that 'belong' to adults" I said as I looked up at him.

He let out a small chuckle, "you're wise beyond your years Cole" he said as he grabbed a new roll of bandages.

"I'm not wise. I just play it smart. Fancy words and fancy acknowledgements make me sound wise when I'm really not. But thank you Dr. Yang." I said as I took in a deep breath.

He smiled as he began to wrap my thigh gently with the bandages, "would you like to go around the hospital? Get out of this tiny room." He said as he looked up at me.
