The cool evening air nips at her energized muscles as she finishes her sprint from the train to Sangwoo's home. As she had done many times before, Y/n unlocks the gate and walls onto the all too familiar pathway. "Nothing has changed." She can practically see her younger self playing hide and seek in the bushes, running across the lawn, and falling and bleeding and Sangwoo being there to support her through it all. Her knees shake as she climbs the stairs and she takes a moment to appreciate each crack in the pavement. Some are new, but most are able to be found in the archives of her memory.

If Korea is flooded with all her happy memories, (homeland) must be having a drought. She shakes her head, attempting to stay positive before she finally ventures into Sangwoo's home. The sound of a car pulling up behind her, causes Y/n to slowly swivel her head around. The sun had only just begun to set. Flicking from the sky to the ground, her eyes grew as she took in the daunting figure of the police car.

She takes a deep breath and reminds herself of the facts. This is not (homeland), this is South Korea. They cannot take JoJo, you're not a minor. They cannot deport you, you have your papers. They cannot arrest you, you're not doing anything wrong. As she had done many times before, she pulls on a small smile and waves at the cop car. Knowing that she could have been inside by now had she not taken a glorious trip down memory lane pains her gut as if her stupidity and this information was a physical assault.

Turning back to the door after completing her wave, Y/n hits her knuckles against the hard surface, noting the new pin pad that was replacing the need for a key. The slow squeak of a window rolling down pulls her attention back to the car. "Miss, please watch out around these parts. There's been an increase in dangerous trespassers. Wouldn't want a cute girl like you getting hurt."

"Ah," Y/n says bashfully in surprise. Cops never spoke to her like this before. "Thank you for the warning, I'll let my friend know." She bows a little in a polite dismissal, but the car doesn't pull off.

The serious guy next to the larger one that just spoke exits the police car and walks towards the girl authoritatively. "Reason for visitation?" His voice comes out stern as if Y/n has already been taken in for questioning.

Another deep breath. She takes a moment to steady herself, it makes her looks suspicious, but it helps her stay put together. "I just found out his mo- parents died. We were close..." her voice trails off for a moment as she bites back a sob. "I don't know, I just felt like I needed to be here."

Her emotions were starting to get to her. She had barely held herself together when she had first read the text. It was a shock. She could only think to do one thing and it was to come see Sangwoo. He and her son are Y/n's only comfort and they are both here in this house. Is it really that strange for her to want to be with them?

The young, slimmer officer takes a step back from the breaking down woman. It's clear she's about to cry. To think he finally got in a position where he could question her. He finishes his retreat back into the passenger seat of the police car. If only Officer Park hadn't come along, then he could have gotten more out of her.

Shakily, Y/n raises her fist to knock on the door again, only for it to never hit the surface. The door swings open and Sangwoo steps out of the house in a black apron and shorts. The sight would have been comedic had he not looked devilishly attractive and if he didn't immediately reach to cradle the now sobbing girl in his arms. Officer Park offers a small smile and a nod to Sangwoo before pulling off with a frustrated Officer Yang.

She doesn't resist. Y/n welcomes Sangwoo's warmth, turning to face him fully. Her arms wrap tightly around his bare torso as tears escape and roll down her cheeks. Soft sobs escape from between her lips and Sangwoo can feel it too. Sangwoo can feel her pain.

The two don't have to share any words. Eventually her cries slow and her grip weakens. Together, the two enter the house and shut the door tightly behind them.
